I'm sure a lot of you remember seeing the addition of Bama Bucks on the old site even though it was an option we never integrated a use for on that phpBB.

With this software, I'm also sure some of you have noticed it in the profiles of each poster. If you look to the left, you'll see my bank right now.

What are Bama Bucks...

I guess a good comparison would be the board game Monopoly. It is a form of currency we'll have here for members to use in a few different areas.

1) Casino - different games you can wager on like a daily lottery, black jack, Texas Hold 'em tournaments, etc.

2) The RTB Bookmaking Lounge - A virtual book makers room where we can bet different amounts on the outcome of football, baseball, basketball, etc., games.

3) The RTB Gift Shop. - I'm sure you've seen people say "I'll buy you a beer" or something along those lines in posts when they've read something they like. Here, you'll actually be able to do so.

These new additions to the forum will come available in the order you see them here. We've got the casino built, but have a few minor things to get set up before we have the "grand opening."

How do I get more Bama Bucks...

There are two different ways in place to increase the balance in your bank.

1) Participation: As example, for every new thread and every new post you'll see your account increase. Some forums here reward members with larger payouts than others. So, you can expect a larger payout from conversations about the women's gymnastics team than you will the football team.

Of course, and it probably doesn't need to be said, if you win in the casino you have a larger balance. You lose? :nopity:

What for...

Nothing really needs to be said here as well. It's just something to have a little fun with.

Personally, I enjoy placing wagers on the outcome of different games. I enjoy playing Texas Hold 'em and look forward to a few tournaments we'll be able to have when we have down-time around the University.

I've also never been a fan of those message board people who like to subtract from other members reputations. But, we have included the option to donate to different members if you really like something they've posted, shared, etc.

I've attached a quick screen shot of the casino. Like I mentioned earlier, it's something that Lance (doemasters) and I are still getting set up so it may be a few days before you see it fully active.

The arcade, up and running now, is just the first example of small add-on's we have in mind to make you time here that much more enjoyable.

As always - All of the staff here appreciate your participation on this site! Now, we look to take not only as much of your time as we can but also your Bama Bucks!

I'm off to get this set up as quickly as possible (Masters coverage is a union mandated break) :bolt:

I'll be playing some Hold'em as well Terry. Loves me some Hold'em.

Back on the old site a bunch of us used to go over to Yahoo and play a few nights out of the week. It was pretty fun and I've heard members say that we need to get that going again.

I've always heard about the hold'em, but I'm not so familiar with american cards for poker as spanish ones. I have to learn and I will do... for european vs american contests.. :nana:

RTR,

firestorm, have you played poker before? Like standard 5-card draw? Hold'em is sort of a mix between draw and stud.

You start off with 2 cards in your hand. The rest of the cards are community cards and are dealt to the middle of the table. But as I said, they are community cards. A free for all, so to speak.

Example; If you have a pair of 4's in your hand and there is a 4, 7, and a QUEEN on the board, then you essentially have a set of 4's (3 of them). The cards on the board are used by you, and the other players.

There are 5 cards in total that get used as community cards. You make your best hand with the cards you are dealt, along with the community cards.

It's a lot of fun. The fact that you can see the community cards, but don't know what your opponents are holding makes it a really fun, risky, game.

There's a regular 5-card stud game there as well Isra - it's a Video Poker game set up for just one player.

It'll give you plenty of opportunity to lose, er, I mean practice.

I can tell there are some things I still need to adjust on the game before we open it completely.

I had thought 50 bucks a thread, but, I can see people putting a 1000 bucks in their account in a matter of minutes.
