The NCAA Baseball Portal is open from today until July 2nd. The Tide needs several pieces for next year's club... some that can step in right away along with some depth pieces. The hope is that Vaughn can retain the key core of guys on the team... it's much easier to build on to that foundation with portal additions than it is to repair it... With his first full SEC season now under his belt, it will be interesting to see how well he and his staff can navigate the portal, draft, NIL world, etc.

There have been about a half dozen or so Bama players put their name in the portal as well, but nothing too terribly impactful as of yet. That is likely to change however in the days ahead... Hopefully Bama can keep adding impact bats and arms to help fill the holes and mitigate the losses.

Unfortunately, this was what I was referring to... just wasn't sure when it would be official...

Lebron is a guy like Quick and Alton Davis from last year... he had other big teams in his ear, teams that could offer more $. Says a lot about him (and his family) that he turned them down... hopefully he does the same next year at this time too, then goes on to be a 1st rounder. Personally, I think he'd look fantastic in Yankees pinstripes...

Quick is the Tommy Lewis of Bama baseball... some will understand that.

Copied this from the Rant BAMA board! Some of those guys aren’t as useless as some others!!

The one thing I like about this era of the NIL is watching coaches build rosters.

In my world, I don't have a figure on the pulse yet.

As it pertains to UA, it would be a lot more fun if Bama Baseball had the high level of funds of the basketball and football teams. But, my hope, and my expectation, is that when baseball becomes a head count sport (hopefully after this next season), things will level off somewhat in terms of Bama having a hand tied behind their back. Programs like LSU and Arkansas are still going to have the NIL/Collective advantage, but being able to fund entire scholarships for players in Tuscaloosa should equate to a pretty decent sized boost in both recruiting and roster retention (of which I think for sustained success, you need to do both very well).
