Myles Garrett discusses what he needs to do to become the No. 1 pick

While he might be on the most talented defenders in the NFL Draft class, Tim Williams’ name has been absent from a number of mock draft boards. And now fans have a better idea of why that’s the case.

In speaking at the NFL Combine, Williams admitted that he had failed prior drug tests in his time at Alabama, per Chase Goodbread of NFL.com.

The Alabama pass rushing star spoke further on how he needs to be honest with NFL teams.

ā€œ(I’m a) young player making decisions that I grew from,ā€ Williams told Goodbread. ā€œThat’s what life is about — being a man on and off the field, owning up to your mistakes. Everyone makes them. I’m not here dancing around and joking. I know I’m here with something to prove. I’m obviously behind the eight-ball, so I’m here to prove not only to myself but to every organization that if they get me, they’re going to get the best player here.ā€

Williams put up big numbers at Alabama, as he registered 19.5 sacks in his final two years with the Crimson Tide. But he also some more off the field incidents, as he was arrested on a gun charge back in September.

If Williams can show that he’s matured and stay out of trouble off the field, he could be a major steal for some NFL team.

I was surprised at Allen's time, but I also know 33 reps and a 4.65 by Garrett didn't show me jack fucking shit when the lights came on and they were between the lines. Browns will make yet another mistake. Have they forgotten Courtney Brown?

Myles Garrett potential can't be good news for a struggling franchise that can't afford to get it wrong, AGAIN. Myles is mirroring the Clowney scenario almost exactly. Garrett is lazy and takes a lot of plays off. Personally, I thought Clowney had the better college career and he was scary at #1. Glad I don't have to wade through Garrett's upside vs actual accomplishment as a GM.

And people fail big time when they claim "he never was punished!" How much did he play his first 2 years? I think that answer will show that Saban handles it differently but gets his point across.

I heard that same crap on the radio this morning but didnt have time to call in. This was to be my point. He didn't play at all until two years ago and was "deep in the dog house" from what I remember. I always assumed it was attitude holding him back but knowing now he failed tests I know why he wasn't playing.

I would also point out that his punishment must have worked fairly well because Tim graduated, was a leader on the field and played with great character. he also admitted and took responsibility for his actions and fixed the problem. Isn't that what you punish them for.. so they will learn what not to do?

As coach Saban calls it, discipline (changing behavior) vs just punishment.

I honestly forgot who Tim Williams was until his coming out party in 2015. Which speaks to how he didn't play those 1st 2 years during his time in the dog house.
