🏀 Bama and Bracketology - the latest projections

I'm glad you're optimistic, kinda like that 18th game you have on our resume, but I fear we need a serious winning streak this week.
From my perspective there's just too many extenuating factors this season that fly in the face of a pessimistic view. A new selection process, more parity than we've seen before...and what I've pointed to in this and other threads.

You may be right that they don't get in with a lose Wednesday. Their resume will be better than some that get an invite.
If we get in I can't think of a Bama fan that would be upset with that
I don't know about that. There's a lot of anti-Avery sentiment...a lot of which I find to be unfounded. It's my opinion that there's too many looking at the losses without considering who they came against along with ...

@TerryP I agree with you the 4-5 top 25 wins this season were an achievement and we really only had a few players with any experience at all Hall, Key and Ingram. I'm certainly disappointed in our finish but you can't change coaches every 3-4 years.

BTW, this confused me a bit. I know I saw 18-14 this morning. Before I posted that comment I went back to rolltide.com, looked at the men's schedule, and UA had it listed as 18-14. I just looked again and it's now at 17 wins.

Yah, yah, I know...a mistake from the media relations/communication department at UA is something I should expect. They've just recently corrected the archives on RT.com that had the '11 loss to LSU as a W.

OH! As am I!!! That nine million buyout for Avery should cause pause in a lot of folks. And, while it's no panacea to the disappointment we all feel I don't believe we can simply ignore a roster that's the third youngest in D1 with a coach in his third year in collegiate ball.

I'll tell ya...a lot of that reminds me of what we read about Braxton in the off-season. I knew he was returning while a lot of the media were ignoring what other players were saying. What struck me as noteworthy was the feeling Avery was in a learning process on how to deal with kids who have had their expectations built up beyond reality.

On another note...it's interesting to me how people pointed to the '07 football season and how close those losses were while thinking about '08. But, I've not seen but a couple point to the seven games lost by six or fewer points--both situations about learning how to close out games.

On a sarcastic side, sort of ...

Bama could have scheduled as many Quad 4 teams as FSU and would be sitting with how many wins? We're left with seeing a young team struggle at times through a tough schedule. These are things I feel deserve attention.

A lot of my view comes from the fact I'm an avid golfer. It's never about one hole, or a series of holes.

I agree on several points but I also think we need a win vs Texas A&M to have a chance at the dance. I have been pleasantly surprised by the team this year.. I knew we had talent but I was also aware that we were very young and we were playing a brutal schedule. I was disappointed that we lost the home game to Arkansas.. that one to me was the stake in the heart of our dreams but in all likelihood a win vs A&M and a competitive game vs the Boogs and we are probably in as a high seed or a play in game.

Offensively I wish we would have worked the ball into Hall and the post more often. I think he is an under rated post player and if the other team starts to collapse on him it opens up the kick out three. Not to get to technical here but as a shooter.. most guys prefer a catch and shoot, kick out pass to coming off of a screen. Plus if your big is fighting for post position as he kicks it out he is in a good rebounding position too. I think we were to perimeter oriented on offense at times and without great shooters that becomes easy to guard.

Personally, I can't look at it as a singular event. There's a chance two of the teams listed in the earlier graph could be gone before Bama takes the floor against A&M. Florida State and Louisville face each other so there's one gone. NC State could be looking at Ga Tech: a team they lost to less than a week ago. If Arizona State gets out of round one they won't round two when they face Arizona.

Point being...even with Bama off the floor we could easily see their resume improve. Hell, it happened this weekend when they lost to A&M but Michigan won the B1G--same Michigan that LSU beat.

They have done this the last three games where the win column will read 18 or 17 and will change mid-game. We talked about it on one of the in-game threads last week I believe.

I can understand pre-built graphics for things like this...going live with them? At least I know I wasn't seeing things--twice--this morning.

Man, I've been bothered and posting about that 18 wins on rolltide.com for two weeks or more. Glad they've got it changed, but we've been watching this progression of wins and losses since December. Are they not vested in this like we are? I'm a huge CAJ fan. Keep him. Give the man a chance. The university and the fans will be glad they did...eventually. He will be a good face for the program. And no, I don't think they make it to the Dance this year. I don't care what matrix the committee SAYS they use. At this point, I don't see a tournament team. I hope I'm wrong. I usually am.

With that said, I hope they make it and go to the Sweet 16.

I’ll catch a lot of flak for this, but I don’t believe this team is one of the best 32 teams in the country.

I agree we can’t change coaches every 3-4 years, but we also can’t just accept the “this is Bama basketball” and try to find silver linings and all that. Bama’s schedule was good this year, but the inconsistency with this team is troubling. But, I say all that to say CAJ shouldn’t be fired even if his buyout was $1. But, there has to be improvement

Just listened to J. Palm on F'baum according to him we have to beat TAM and the barn to have a chance to dance.

33/40 just aired an interview with Palm. He doesn't have Bama anywhere on his radar. He said our record does not merit any inclusion to the tournament. I think at least a win over the barn has to be the first step. Like you said, hafta beat tamu first.

Id trust Lunardi a hell of alot more than Palm and Lunardi still has us in. Still believe if we can beat A&M we will be in. I dont put much weight into road losses with as bad and bias as the refs can be when u are on the road...Get in a tourney setting where theres no real homecourt and the refs are alot less bias and anything can happen

I agree but Lunardi has us as the very last team in so we have to beat TAM in my opinion.

The total number of brackets has been growing over the last few weeks. A month ago there were roughly 100, now over 130. So, take this for what it's worth. Bama is *in* 79 of 133 brackets.
