šŸˆ Auburn is now up to four players that have left the program since the start of the season.

It feels like we are only a stone's throw from the real free agency.

That and some form of payment is next. Whether I agree or disagree is immaterial. It is where the sport is going. I will continue to enjoy it until the tipping point comes where I personally no longer can. Then I will move on. That is exactly what happened to me personally with MLB. I don't bitch about it, I don't worry about it, I just don't watch follow or support it.
Same for me with all the pro sports. I was a Raiders, Lakers and Dodgers fan as a kid. Then in the 80's, they all pissed me off with striking for more pay, when they were making a fuckload of money. I quit caring about any pro team and focused solely on Bama.

That's something that has always been so weird about our beloved capitalist country. No one bats an eye when a CEO makes ass loads of money or even a politician rakes in countless millions, but God forbid an athlete thinks he/she deserves a bigger share of the pie than they are getting.

I don’t think many care that professional athletes make lots of money. I do think the idea of the college student who also plays ball getting paid for doing so is a bad idea. I’m not against a semi-pro league for football players who don’t want to go to college and could get paid to play. I just think the college student should be a college student first. The game of football just got so big at the college level that it seems like it is a pro sport. If you guys think the headlines have too many college athletes involved in improper behavior, wait til you start throwing cash at them.

I know how I would have been in 1995 with a few hundred bucks each month...

Now you have Eric Dickerson trying to get the HOFers to boycott due to pension/healthcare for the older players... The same guys that were pissed off at Terrell Owens for a boycott. Ok, makes sense...

I would say that boycott is a tad bit different than being upset that you didn't get voted in on the first go, no?

People 100% care or at least a huge portion. I see these comments all the time, including things like "athletes shouldnt be making millions of dollars" or "it should be the soldiers that are making millions of dollars, not athletes" things like that. It happens every single time a contract dispute with a big name athlete pops up. And I'm not talking about super left wing nuts that don't think ANYONE should make that much money.

Im not getting into the college kids being paid thing because that's a conversation we could have literally weeks and I honestly understand both sides.

I'm in the camp a boycott is a boycott...each person can justify the validity of the boycott. Who's is right...depends on your perspective. If they boycott the 2020 HOF induction, then they owe TO an apology.

Well, I don't see it as the same but let me be clear on this, too. I didn't care about TO boycotting and I thought the backlash towards him was silly. In fact, I felt bad for him because I guarantee he will regret not going eventually.

I'm speaking for 'chine here but I do believe it's a noteworthy point. You have to take what he's saying in context of who he is--specifically how old and what he grew up with in terms of following a NFL team. If you grew up with the strikes of the early 70's when there was a significant culture change within the NFL ranks (owners, players, et. al.) you'd have a different view.

Using Dallas as one example, imagine yourself as a Cowboys fan and seeing the move from the Landry/Staubach type of team to one that was being replaced by your Neon-Deon type of player(s,) It was a culture shock that turned a lot of fans away from the game--the money aspect being just a portion of that dissatisfaction.
