šŸ“” Auburn hires Hugh Freeze

There are a few who remain in close contact with Bo and maintain he'd return to Tuscaloosa in a heartbeat (much like Pruitt.) What's prevented his return—and it's been explored—is he dealt with UA compliance. There are still those who hold lying against him.

This is the elephant in the room: defensive line coaching. We've seen two bad hires before Freddie. I've found it entertaining reading criticisms of ILB play with little to no attention paid to defensive line play: something ILB play is dependent upon.

But hell, who wants to look at context anymore?
I agree with you about the DL. I believe that’s one of the main things that is separating our defense from UGA. Elite DL play

And in the end, they'll send Cohen out there to take the arrows. A guy who didn't even want to hire him, but was dumb enough to step into a situation where he should have known better. Now he has to eat some shit sandwiches and won't even get to make a real hire on his own until they fire the soccer coach.

I guess I should have known better... but in a move that is pretty unprecedented in the SEC major hire world, Cohen wasn't made available to answer questions during the press conference, even though media requested it.

The AD at the barn just came from Miss St. so he was just down the road and saw first hand what happened with Freeze at Ole Piss.
You know he had to hold his nose making this hire.

He can't be thrilled. He had the search taken out of his hands when his first 2 targets said "no" and a couple of others showed no real interest. The mistake he made (other than thinking the auburn job came with autonomy) was having too many people involved in his search and having too many leaks. Instead of conducting the search like a sneaky mouse in the pantry he was a bull in a china shop. Personally, I think Freeze is the better coach and fit than Kiffin so they ended up doing good, but he's not who Cohen wanted.

Eventually it's going to blow up in their faces. Freeze is a good coach, but he's got way too much baggage going on with him. And after this probably fail, who in their right mind would do anything with Auburn? Those boosters have way too much power in that program, and it's hurting them.

Caught about 20 mins of Cubelic’s show this am when I took the kid to school. For the last 2 years, Cole has been saying that the boosters running the program were a poison and auburn had to keep them away from the decisions. Needed their money, but not their input basically. Today, he did a 180° (or a 360° as Carnell calls it). Even he was saying this was their hire and to have success auburn is just going to have to let them have control. ā€˜Look what happened to the last 2 guys that fought them…’ Pretty funny to hear him say it out loud.

It could certainly go either way, but Freeze will be well protected and insulated there if he’s winning. I tend to think it will blow up eventually, but it could be a while.

I totally agree. Cohen was naive to think he would have control of this hire.

Funny how fast people change their opinions just to win. Had they not handled the last two coaches the way they did, they wouldn't of had a problem getting a good catch that wouldn't potentially be poison for the program. And you're probably right, he'll be there 5-6 years until he's gone. We'll see.

Cohen is the man that got Freeze axed at Ole Piss! You know that it had to chap his ass to introduce that slime all this morning!!
Barners speak of redemption and humility and one time transgressions, yet completely overlook the pattern this snake oil salesman has. From his time at Briarcrest HS in ā€˜99, he forced a 13 year old girl to change shirts in his office IN FRONT OF HIM! His 5 years of dealing with hookers/escorts at Ole Miss. Barners stop there, but Freeze went further. Liberty University is still dealing with a lawsuit from not 1 but 15 female students that were sexually assaulted/ raped and the school just swept it under the rug. The Righteous One, Freeze felt so moved that he slid into one of the plaintiffs DM’s to tell her that she was wrong about the AD. Seems that some athletes/football players were accused.

You think cohen will last long at Auburn?

That's probably up to him at this point. The president like him, so unless that turns sour he's safe there. Will he want to sit there and just be the face of the athletic program but not have full control over football (or basketball)? It's good money, though he doesn't really need it. But if it isn't about the money, then its most likely either about the power (which he's finding out he doesn't have a ton of), or the prestige of the position. I think Freeze will get along ok with him, but Freeze doesn't have to answer to him if he doesn't want to now. My guess is, Cohen will settle in, learn what his role is now, be a good member of the family and concentrate on keeping baseball humming along and improving the non-revenue sports while doing what he's told when it comes to football and basketball.

Does Bama have those type of money boosters that try meddle into stuff or have in the past? Can’t imagine Saban gives a damn what they think
