This describe the Barners to a tee. His dad was part of that culture so why would his son be any different?
Bama had some of this false bravado post Bear but at least they had a history and tradition to back them up. Only problem with that period was the past did not represent the reality of bama at that time. Saban called it what it was when he arrived which forced everyone around the program to be honest with themselves. That is when it truly got fixed.
The barners have never had real tradition of excellence but they think they do. They over rotated on the Gus bus/Newton year and then the one year the Gus Bus beat both Georgia/Bama now they have to live with it. AD's can't let the emotions of one game or year drive their decisions. This is what the barn did. Now they are looking for the next Scam savior so every time they see a glimer of potential they talk them up like they have with Nix. They did the same thing with Gatewood and the other QB a few years ago (cannot recall his name). That is who they are. Saying something over and over again and loud enough does not make it so.
There's a good chance we're going to see conferences not able to fulfill their bowl tie-ins this season. That'll help their cause a bit. I'd dare say they'll have to win their bowl game to finish in the top 25.
Won't disagree with that. I think they will benefit from the down year all over and pull out a top 20 finish if they win their bowl. They have a chance to be 9-4 at the end of the year with all of their losses to Top 10 teams (at the time they played).
Do we know there is discord.....coach under fire....? Or just unable to accept the obvious....
A mediocre coach that is calling plays.....as did Shula....that will one day rub his nose off from constant attention...whic is not like Shula
I heard just a bit of an afternoon show on Jox and one of the guys (I don't know any of them, very sporadic listener) mentioned that he had been told directly from someone in the program (wouldn't say if it was from the D or O side) of the team discord, split down O/D and another fracture over the QB departure. Only slightly better than a message board post, I agree, but that's my basis for the post.

Very possible....heard that about clemson last year when their #1 was replaced and he left pissed off....worked out ok for clemson....
A lot is said....but ....well i just dont know...but very possible...
uh...HELL NAW! they're not allowed in there. they can go to the toil...er...birmingham bowl if they want. but they can stay they hell away from The Bryant Museum. that's sacred ground. now auburns allowed.
The TD pass at the end of the Ducks game is the high point so far. It's not that the pass was great but the fact the DB made such a terrible play on defending (jmo). I believe Nix is going to be a goodun down the road but as of today he has a bravado about himself that his production doesn't support.
