Auburn football players call out Jordan-Hare Stadium crowd after win vs. Ole Miss
\

AUBURN — The game ended up being a fight to the end. Ole Miss' offense had the ball, down six points, with a little more than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, and it was driving right into the teeth of where Auburn's student section sits in the northwest corner.
Only a large portion of those students were no longer there. Auburn announced a sellout of 87,541 fans, but many cleared out by that point of the game, which kicked off at 6 p.m. and ended a little after 9 p.m.
The fact that a beautiful 60-degree afternoon turned into a chilly 40-degree night almost certainly played a role in that, but that short of temperature drop should be expected on the first Saturday in November.
Auburn still hung on for a 20-14 victory thanks to a stop from the defense — freshman linebacker Owen Pappoe pressured Rebels quarterback John Rhys Plumlee into a fourth-down interception that Christuan Tutt caught to seal the game.
Afterwards, though, a few players took to Twitter to implore their fans to stick around for the whole game:
Saturday marked the Tigers' first home game since Sept. 28 against Mississippi State, which was five weeks ago. Fans will have three more games to atone for their transgression following a Nov. 9 open date — Auburn hosts Georgia on Nov. 16, Samford on Nov. 23, and Alabama on Nov. 30.
