Auburn was offered to play a televised football game against UCLA at the Georgia Dome in 2010 but passed. Athletic Director Jay Jacobs said Wednesday, “I told them we’d love to play UCLA, possibly in 2012 when we don’t have 12 games. That was the extent of the conversation. Those talks go on all the time.” It was reported that Jacobs turned down the offer because it would reduce the home schedule from eight games to seven, that he was not interested in breaking any existing contracts and because Auburn begins a home-and-home series with Clemson that year.
