šŸ“ Arch Manning commits to Texas

How would Arch attending UA make the football complex any different then than it is today?

Ironically, the impact he'll have at Texas—in the circus sense—wouldn't be found at UGA in the same degree with even more of a controlled environment at Bama.
Well, that's your opinion and, of course, you're entitled to it. I see it differently. Pretty sure I explained it in my post how - Manning family attention and air of entitlement, etc. We'll never know for sure. And I'm perfectly content with that.

That's a wild analogy. Arch is to Ole Miss ... or Arch is to Tennessee I can see. I don't get the reference.

I'm not trying to belabor a point but this was not a decision based on a guarantee of a starting job. It mirrors the decisions made by Eli and Peyton.

If Sark was still at Alabama in the OC role, Arch would be headed to Tuscaloosa. The Manning's look at Sark as a modern day David Cutcliffe.

The only real guarantee here is as much of a hypothetical as it is written in stone. Arch to Texas may guarantee Sark an extra season; say getting run out of Austin in four years versus three.

If you remember there was a good QB at Auburn by the name of Malika Willis. The reference was that Bo Nix was guaranteed to be the starter at Auburn before he graduated from Pinson Valley High School and I’m sure Arch Manning got the same guarantee from Texas because Quinn Ewers is no slouch.

Is there a more intriguing college football program coming into 2022 than Texas?!

Will them flaming out again this year be a positive for Arch? Will them doing well and having a good QB be a negative?

The momentum swing that will happen this season can only be rivaled by the the Chizik/Coach 'O' final years. Difference is, they won titles. Sark has some huge expectations on his plate this year... Would be great to see The Good Guys cut that gas line early in '22. RTR

Opinion or observation? You say you've seen an air of entitlement with Arch and his recruitment? My observation is "where?" My opinion is "it can't be found."

His recruitment leading all the way up to his announcement has been one of the most subdued recruiting stories seen for a high profile QB recruit.

Twitter is quiet? Calling the coach and committing is quiet.
Versus setting an official announcement where, likely, 100's of media members would attend? Versus having three hats on the table and doing a "switch-er-roo?" Or making a minute long hype video announcing your destination?

His announcement carried less fan-fare than Brodie's did almost 20 years ago.

I know it sounds strange, but I was really hoping he didn't pick Bama. What a circus. Because of the family ties it just seems like the whole process was a bit tainted with a sense of entitlement. Who needs it... Good luck at Texas.

I like the way you put this. You didn't say the "he" has a sense of entitlement - but that the process seems tainted with a sense of entitlement.

I agree. There's no doubt in my mind that the massive hype imposed by the media combined with the Manning family's history/status in the sport has at least given a perception of Manning family entitlement. Not the kid's fault, and maybe not even true - but the perception is there, nonetheless.

I never really engaged is the "Arch" hype and had zero expectations. If it happened - fine. But, I'm fine that he didn't choose Bama. The media circus has added unrealistic expectations and unnecessary pressure on the kid as well as on the program he chose. You'd think scientists took Manning DNA and combined it with a dash of Paul Prudhomme's QB Magic spice and created an uber-quarterback-bot. We'll see if he lives up to the hype.

Sark now has everything he needs to be highly successful at Texas, yet I can't help but feel that he will somehow screw it up. I can't even wish Manning good luck. Nothing personal, I just really dislike Texas. Hope he doesn't get hurt is the best I can do.

Wow, extremely well-put! I couldn't have said it better myself. Plus none of us really knows what is going on behind the scenes, outside of the media spotlight.

I have to say, AFF's post really says it quite well. I also think you're misquoting me. I said "I see it differently" - than you see it. I didn't say I "see" an air of entitlement - I wouldn't have used the word "air" in that case. I said an "air" of entitlement in a broad and more nebulous sense. Further, I didn't say that Arch acts likes he's entitled. Saying an "air" of entitlement is specifically an opinion as I stated.

This air of entitlement is also fanned by the media. This morning on ESPNU the hosts were specifically talking about how much behind the scene "influence" peddling and propagation is occurring by the involvement of the Manning family and how much weight they carry. None of us knows for sure exactly what is going on behind the scenes, but they would be completely shocked if there were zero influence peddling by the Manning family (for example, maybe a guarantee that Arch starts immediately) and I agree with that. Still, it's all speculation - none of us knows - and that's why it is an opinion.
