🏈 Anybody else depressed over this win?

Yes this game was a bit underwhelming. The team did not seem in sync and I would rather them not play down to any opponent, but what did you expect? Most of the team is close to or has heard a great deal about CJM and I'm sure CNS has great respect for him, so I think they had the mind set going in that they were not going to kill Colorado state and they certainly were not going to embarrass CJM on national tv. Having that mindset at the get go is going to make it hard to execute with with any consistency. It is frustrating but it was another win, an ugly win, but a win none the less. We won and Auburn lost. It's a great day.

LOL. You sound like a fan from the 2011 Clemson 10-3 team just before the Orange Bowl with West Virginia.:tongue-new:

All kidding aside.... AJ was wrong for venting that way to the media; very wrong. There's a positive way to relate team problems to the media, but outright frustration and full admission of team communicative failure without any additional hints of cause or positive resolution is not one of them. He maybe be a league leading senior, but that was a freshman blunder.

I disagree- too many times people bottle things up until it blows up. Let's see how the offense responds to this, at least they know he's not happy with the lack luster performance.

As much as I hate to resort to cliches.... It's not whether your win or lose but how you play the game. Somebody text that, our 3rd down conversion stat, and run yards stat back to Finebaum, I gotta do my laundry. <iframe id="rufous-sandbox" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" style="display: none;"></iframe>

The offense doesn't need defeatist media bites to understand AJ's anger... that is what locker rooms and team meetings are for. In any case, I definitely know what I'm getting AJ for Christmas:

My opinion, people are making more out of this than needs be.

Just played a big game away the week before, playing against McElwain, without numerous starters on both sides of the ball, CK was the only guy on the OL from last year with Steen being out. Yeldon rode the bike, ran for most of the yards, then got back on the bike again.

I would have preferred we see the 2nd team earlier in the game, say the beginning of the 4th QTR, but it didn't happen.

That's what AJ shoulda have said. But regardless. Next week is Ole Miss. When the Tide drops them like 3rd period French, I'll lay back on my laurels and relax a bit. Until then, I wish could get these pins and needles to stop stickin' me in the ass. LOL.

I pretty much agree with Argo, as usual. We will know much more about this team after the Ole Miss game. As for the CSU game, it's hard to get the players to get up for a game like that anyway, but next to impossible when the coaches treated it the way they did... holding out players who could have played, holding open tryouts in the defensive backfield, etc. Still doesn't excuse the play, but that game really just doesn't tell us much about the team. This coming Saturday will.

Wrong for what? He was visibly frustrated but he never "vented", he didnt scream at anyone. It was a frustrated person having to answer the same questions over and over. I dont get how he was "very wrong."

Agreed. He was pissed, but I like how he answered each question. Same questions were asked, same answers were given. And he was upset after the handoff to Drake for the touchdown. Drake probably went the wrong way, but AJ is correct. That is between him and Drake.

We just have a difference of opinion. I played for a coach much like Saban, that told it like it was and what you needed to do to fix the problem. I don't care for the ***** footing around, tell me what you think the issue is and let's fix it. I feel there is too much of this politically correct BS and not enough honesty.

It was possibly our worst offensive performance, against a defense that was nowhere near the caliber we will be facing in LSU. I sincerely hope it was just that our team took the week off and didn't focus and not a recurring issue.

Take some time to research who was out of this game & when CNS pulled them. The timing could have as much to do w/ the mentality as anything.

The more I look into this, it seems like a glorified scrimmage. Could've been a lot better. But players & coaches learn more about themselves when they are challenged. This Ole Miss game is BIG TIME for this 2013 'Bama team.

No I'm not! I go back to when we were leading a game and lose in overtime. What about a game that the other team needed 4th and forever to make a 1st in OT and getting it.

Televised scrimmage were my exact words yesterday when asked about watching the first part of the game.

No one doesn't understand there are some issues.

I don't understand how so many didn't see this coming.

  • Tough away game with an emotional win.
  • The McElwain factor with players and coaches. (I wonder what percentage of our hand signals he could read? Honestly, I don't much would be changed if he could.)
  • It's Colorado State and the team is favored by how many?
  • Ole Miss is coming up next week.
  • Five starters out

And the few things people like Brandon mentioned earlier...

It's time to think about the Black Bears

I don't recall seeing Saban on the sidelines displaying almost zero emotion throughout any game coaching Alabama. Games like Colorado State are a no-win situation. Beat them bad: well, you should have. Beat them like Bama did: It wasn't a very inspiring win. God forbid you lose one like this. Going back to Saban though, I've seen coaches react with similar mannerisms. It's as if he's saying "Let's see how this plays out and what happens." You can coach and coach and preach and preach, and there comes a time to let the chips fall where they may. This team can become a great team in Bama's history. Then again, this team could win every game through November and not win again until next year. Time will tell.

I agree.. say it like it is to each other, full transparency between players and coaches.... but not to the media.

"We didn't communicate" "The WHOLE offense". Those admissions could have been said a little more finesse and discretion, like:
"It's still early in the season for us, a lot of new guys, so we're still fine tuning our communication, but the offense is getting there as seen on a number of big plays."
That's not untrue. And if the media continues to mine for dirt by asking the same question again; paraphrase your previous answer. And it's not being politically correct by doing so. It's just not giving the media what they want; negativity and defeat. The media are mushrooms: keep'em in the dark and feed them shit. Sorry if that philosophy doesn't gel with everyone elses.
