🏈 Anybody else depressed over this win?

Definitely unimpressed, even more so with the defense, even tho only 6 points were allowed. The defensive backs did not good... not at all. There was not an ounce of intensity on that entire team tonight save for maybe Landon Collins.

I will say underwhelmed as others have, but I wouldn't say I'm worried. After last weeks rollercoaster I was expecting a down game, not to mention every year we usually manage to play down to the level of lesser opponents on occasion. Add that to McElwain knowing the ins and outs of our tendencies from having been with us 4 years and having his players fired up. I just think we'll all have forgotten about this in about a week from now.

Completely agree. Coach Saban said after the game that Bama's preparation for this game wasn't as sharp as he alluded to a tamu hangover. Hard to get stay consistent in practice. Yeah, I think they'll find that intensity this week. The DBs better. Bama by two TDs.

I know this smacks of hubris, but I will say it. I am not worried. I'm not worried because after dealing with opening day issues against VT(which has an exceptional defense) and an emotional win against A&M (guys, JF was and is going to score against any defense) I understand a fundamental truth. It does not matter who is coaching. At that age and what they have gone through during this season these 18-22 year olds were going to take the night off against a team they knew they would beat. There, I said it.

Maybe be they took the night off. Maybe they had the emotional let down. But Marshall put up 150 more yards against VT than we did. Vt beat ECU 15-10 last week, and took 3 over times to beat Marshall today. Chest thumping over that victory is no longer something to point at as being an accomplishment.

Lot of young guys played today and that is a great thing, we are going to need them later in this season. We get through Ole Miss with a win and we'll have some breathing room. But as of now, Ive seen nothing to indicate that we are going to win going away. And that's not jumping off a cliff, or even standing near the edge. That's watching three games and seeing the same problems arise at some point in all three games.

I see it as having the capability or capacity to win in any way and every aspect of the game. Defense is having problems, win with offense (A&M). Offense and defense having issues, win with special teams.

Certainly underwhelming performance, but at the same time it seemed like we were trying some new things on defense. Specifically at CB.

I was watching this with about 10 other people in the room, so I wasn't paying that close attention, but I don't remember seeing Belue. Did he play?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Saban go after a Juco CB this year.

AJ's in rare form.

I normally don't go crazy over one recruit, but Humphrey looms large in the future of Bama football.

I said it last night, will say it again.
The problem?
No true alpha dogs on the team.
Where is this years Mark Barron, Courtney Upshaw, Barrett Jones, etc? Even Saban has said that he can train these players up all he can but when they hit the field it's all about them and the guys who rise amongst them to lead. No one has risen yet; the Tide has no O or D line studs taking the reins and leading. Sure, all these guys can all play football, but there's no one gelling them as a cohesive force and that's exactly what AJ, in that above interview, elude to when he talked about (the lack of) communication. If this continues, (and one prays it does not) you'll be looking at a 10 win season tops.

Along with Belue, we had four other starters that didn't play.

My buddies that were there said AJ was pissed for the first time in ANY interview... I've never seen him that way before. There are some things that aren't right... Cyrus Kounadijio misses some blocks too often that he shouldn't... Is he giving 100% all the time, I don't see it... The young tight ends are also missing blocking assignments... Steen's replacement did pretty well overall...

Don't be ashamed Barney! Even Alabama is scared of Rams on third down.... Larry

Calm down people, get a good cup of coffee and take a nerve pill. Everything gonna be alright!

LOL. You sound like a fan from the 2011 Clemson 10-3 team just before the Orange Bowl with West Virginia.:tongue-new:

All kidding aside.... AJ was wrong for venting that way to the media; very wrong. There's a positive way to relate team problems to the media, but outright frustration and full admission of team communicative failure without any additional hints of cause or positive resolution is not one of them. He maybe be a league leading senior, but that was a freshman blunder.
