🏈 Any news on the replacement DC yet?

Can somebody tell me why all the love for Pruitt? Yes, he coached at FSU when they won the NC, but then why would he "downgrade" and go to UGA? I wasn't very impressed with him at UGA. I don't know how long he was at Alabama in his last tenure, but since then two jobs in two years doesn't sound like he wants to build anything or he has conflict issues with other staff.

As someone who has known Pruitt since he was playing HS football, let me tell you.....HELL NO.

He is a class A douchebag and if he were hired in that position, I have no doubt he would try and tell Saban how the defense should be run. I have zero doubts that his attitude is the reason he lasted only one year in Tallahassee and from what the scuttlebutt was, he pissed a lot of people off at UGA.

Pardon my french ... I don't believe he's got the balls to do that (refrained from saying, "he's smarter than that."

He reminds me of many people I've ran across in my lifetime. A short, quick road to a good position ... and, one that went to his head as well. I can see how, not understand why.

Consider ... he went from making 250K in 2012, to 540K in '13 at FSU, to 850K at UGA last season; $290,000 raise one year, a $350,000 raise the following year. As young as he is I can see something like that going to anyone's head.

@rammerjammer One thing I've not mentioned (and again, my opinion here) is the feeling I get when I think of Pruitt ... it reminds me of the days when Randy Ross was on the staff. Randy was known for "leaking" staff opinions and news around the program.

I can't verify this one way or another but I've seen a few comments in the last 24 hours that say Pruitt is telling people he'll be announced as DC today. There's a part of me that says, "that fits his MO." The other part says, "making that comment before coming back to work for Saban doesn't make sense." Stupid move, in fact.

Like I said, I have known him since his HS days. In fact, I covered his team for a local fishwrap. He has always had an attitude problem. His own teammates hated him. Of course, I did not put that in the stories I wrote but they confided that to me. Even if they did not, you could just tell from the way he treated others. His dad was the head coach there, so maybe he just thought he could get away with whatever, that his poop did not stink.

I want to say the first time I ran across him was in the spring of '96 and through his time at UA (including his GA position in '97) I saw what I considered to be the same thing. However, I had to temper those thoughts a bit because there was an age difference between the two of us (I didn't start UA until my mid-20's.) I have to add my opinion of the football program wasn't very good back then (IE: Cottrell, DuBose, etc.)

Yes, I certainly have seen him change. And, a lot of that I've credited to his background. I'm not a "big fan" of him. But, not my decision, ya know. Sadly, I've discovered over the years my opinions on coaches have little bearing on who is hired.

FWIW, a conversation with a guy last night ... hearing there are a lot that think Pruitt is in; Tosh, Billy, Scott, and Tucker are staying. Lane as well.

On Tucker and Lane: I'm waiting to see what happens at the conclusion of some NFL teams' seasons. That's just me ...

Well here's hoping that Saban can reign Pruitt in a bit and bring him down to Earth. If anyone could I suppose it would be Saban. He can be as big a douchebag as he wants, as long as Saban gets what he needs out of him I'm happy.

I imagine a lot of productive coaches are narcissistic assholes just like the plethora of type-A successful yet assholish ceos, corporate managers, senior officials, politicians, and even military officers. I don't like that style of leadership; but tempered with the right supporting cast in the right context, it is no less successful if he has the competence and vision required for the position.

Lots of folks have thought Saban to be the same way in his earlier coaching days and Spurrier certainly was all the way until he quit on his team this fall.

I'd much rather see Sal, Tucker, or any number of other NFL coaches than Pruitt. But, Pruitt under Saban with this teams talent is going to equal continued success, so I'm less concerned about DC.

Oc is another story. Need a strong personality to keep CNSs fingers out of the koolaid as much as possible and an innovative mind to balance the O and keep top skill position players other than RBs headed to Bama.

One of the most impressive coaching jobs I've seen in the last decade or so is the job Carroll did at USC. The point he managed personalities like Kiff's, Sark's, Orgeron's, Helton's, Martin's ... that's a lot of BIG egos there.

I'm good with this. Keeping all of those guys ensures our coaching and preparation is where is needs to be. Saban has skillfully handled a number of former head coaches on his staff. He can certainly handle Pruitt.

I don't have an issue with Pruitt coming back. It seems though that no one else will be following Kirby to Athens though. I can recall on here that there once was a guy named Kiffin that coached at UT. We road his * like a government mule too about being arrogant, smug, an *, dickhead, etc. After 2 years, we have heaped some praises on him for what he has done with Blake Sims, Amari Cooper, Jake Coker, Derrick Henry, Calvin Ridley, etc. He is OUR arrogant, smug, *, dickhead, etc. If Pruitt comes, he will be OUR arrogant douchebag that happens to be OUR DC. No doubt in my mind that Saban can tone down any attitude that he may be bringing with him. We have seen him do it with numerous coaches and players. You either GET RIGHT OR GET GONE!!]

Here's something to consider.

The same was said about Lance when he was hired again. But, he went right back to his bullshit ... and lost his position because of it.

I just don't like the Pruitt hire. You know we will have to replace him in a year or two either because he gets bitter and goes to another job or because he runs his mouth and Saban tells him to pack his bags.
