That was it, along with the American flag patch and the script A shield. I actually have two of the game worn ones. I think they are very subtle and very cool how they kept the traditional look and added a few things close to Alabama tradition.
Very different would mean a transformation, not a subtle change of an A being added and a flag patch. Oregon's are VERY different, Georgia's were VERY different. Alabama had the least amount of change of any of those Pro Combats ever produced.
I agree with Birdman on this one, I actually like the helmet... NOT for a full season or anything, but like maybe the kick off game once a year or something. I would definitely buy one to put on display...
If that's the best example we have of Alabama wild'n out on uni's, I think we're grasping at straws. You all know good and well what I meant and what Nick Saban meant. Think Oregon, Baylor, TCU, Okie State, etc. Alabama doesn't need nor ever should go that route with uniforms.

You said Saban would never let a change *shrug* And do you not remember the complete and utter freak out from the fan base with just these small subtle changes?
I dont agree with completely changing the uniforms for a full season but what does doing one game a year with an alternate hurt? I dont understand why ppl freak out so much over this. I love the traditional look but just a little change for one game would be cool. I mean I would be happy if we just did the Pro Combats once a year.
First of all, whoever designed the unis in the original picture was probably smoking meth.
I'm not totally opposed to uniform changes, but they must be really really subtle.
I like the idea of white helmets, with the traditional crimson numbers on the side.
I also like the idea of a houndstooth stripe on the helmets replacing the current white one.
Very different for Alabama considering nothing has changed in like 50 years.

1) I don't recall seeing anyone "freak out" about those small changes that were made honestly. Some didn't like it at all, me included. And to your first point, I did say Saban would never let a change. So let me reiterate, you know what he means by that. He means changing the basic look of the Alabama uniform. That hasn't happened and most likely never will under him.
2) Again with the freaking out thing....a stretch. I think the reason people disagree with changing the uniforms is because people have opinions and a majority of people who are Alabama football fans like the classic look we have.
I think a lot of us see it this way about Bama uniform changing. Once it starts when will it stop? Just look at the Ducks Unis, just how many do they have anyway? Ok.St, Baylor? How many uniform you need to play one game? Look at Texas A & M had a Unis that really needs to be played as a night game. Played in the afternoon that make no sense at all. The one Bama had to do with the 315 win was OK, it was a one time thing. I remember when Ray Perkins came to coach and he bought back the white helmet. That only lasted his first year.
I would rather go stupid modern uni's with our CRIMSON helmet than to keep our current uniforms with a white helmet. White helmets always ruin what would be a good looking uniform; they look pee wee league.
NO!! to the chrome helments.
Why mess with perfection and the brand that has been firmly established as a winner, a champion ?
:bamadance: ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
