This lady has done a MUCH better job than I've heard Verne do in quite a while. I admit that I didn't know how much I'd like her doing play by play, but she's done a great job.
Voice aside (it actually sounded more like a man than a woman) she didn't butcher any names that I remember and she was very quick to call out yardage and who made the plays.
I must admit that whenever I'm scanning through the listings looking for a game to watch, if I hear the husky-voiced female announcers calling a football game I just keep flipping through the dial. It's always been very annoying. It wasn't so much the fact that a woman was calling the game as it was the tone of her voice. I just didn't care for it at all.
I must say she did a pretty good job yesterday. She surprised me by how quickly she correctly identified the names of our 3rd and 4th string players. Maybe I just needed to get used to her husky voice. After a little while it didn't bother me. Or, maybe it was the fact that any day we score 62 points there isn't much that is going to bother me, no matter what.
Her voice aside, she did a good job on the game. To be honest, Verne and Gary don't get on my nerves terribly. Does Verne say some stupid things, of course. But for the most part Gary isn't bad at all. I'd rather listen to them then Kirk and Brent "over dramtic" Musburger. Then again, none of it's a problem really, the internet makes it possible to listen to the game called by Eli and crew.
as much as i hate to say it, she did a good job announcing the game i thought. she did sound like a pirate when she says anything with "ar" in it.... like "pick up of 11 yaaaaarrrds on the play" ARRR MATEY!
I definitely don't depend on the announcers to give me names and such, but if CBS is going to have top pick of the best games (which means we are going to be on the card 40% of the time) I expect a top rate broadcast team and coverage. CBS is no where near as good as the 7:45pm spot on ESPN. And considering the female calling the game on ABC hasn't EVER called a Bama game before, she sure didn't butcher names and talk a lot of nonsense about stuff not related to the game. And I didn't hear one mention of Tim Tebow.

I thought that she did a very nice job. She didn't ramble on about irrelevant stuff like "the Barn" and she knew her stuff. She wasn't Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles but she did well.
