🏈 GAME THREAD 🏈 WEEK TWO: NCAA / SEC Games of the Week- Games begin Friday night.

Bama has ULM. A bit of a yawn. There isn't a set of games this week like last weekend but there are a few that catch my attention. One of those I mentioned in the Sportsbook thread: Iowa and Iowa State. Another? Arizona State visiting Mississippi State.

Earlier this week I heard Dillingham make a comment about the team having to stay an hour and a half away from Starkville because the only hotel accommodations were in casinos. (See below) I guess that was his attempt at a joke. It didn't land.

If you haven't been to Starkville there are hotels that overlook the stadium. So, there's that. To add a bit here, teams have stayed in Tuscaloosa and took buses to Starkville to play.

I'll admit. I thought, "that's just weird." Big 12 champ last year, visiting State ... it was just weird to me. (This game was originally scheduled in 2018: a little time to prepare, ya know?)

To be outdone I saw a practice video where they had their GA's behind the offense ringing cowbells. We all know why. But, again, a little weird to think two dozen GA's were going to emulate that god awful noise?

IF you are one to brag about SEC football I'm betting State isn't a program you point to as an example. Just guessin' here. Now, if you are a Big 12 fan you point to AZ State? I don't know.

I do know the books are saying we're going to see about 60 points scored in this game. The line remains at -6.5 this morning. I'm thinking, they're thinking, State is going to score 27 at home and lose?

It's just weird.

The ASU-State game interests me. I picked ASU only because I know a tad bit about what they have and what they brought back from last season. I don't know anything about Mississippi State, but that home environment could cause problems for ASU. I am interested to see how Mississippi State looks now compared to last year, they should be an improved team in year two, but that bar is pretty low.

Bama started using them in '21 or '22. It's called a Turf Tank.

Cool process.
No. It was 2020.

I remember thinking about the six foot rule when I first heard about this. As I recall they had a crew of six that took all day to paint the football fields. These robots took that time down to less than half of a day and a third of the crew. It's all satellite based.

I did as well. I'm looking at that line and thinking State. I'm not confident enough to put my money on the game; I might here.

Again, how TF have I missed this?

I'm pretty sure @UAgrad93 and I talked about it a little when it happened. If we talked about mowing practice fields? Seems to reason we talked about stringing lines and chalking. (In more than one sport.)

My guess as to how you missed this? Most haven't done it so it just wasn't talked about that much. It's been three years since one of those Tik-Toc videos was published and by the views/likes, etc. not a lot have seen them.

Okay. This is like running into a guy who complained about staying at the Moon Winx or The Masters Inn when visiting Bama.

I'd guess this is the "Game of the Week:" Michigan visiting Oklahoma. The line is still less than a touchdown; odds makers expect a close game.
There's something that catches my attention about this one. We all know Venables as a defensive minded guy. We also know we've seen teams totally revamp an offense, a defense, or an entire team (West Virginia brought in 51 through the portal.)

OU brought in 20 for this fall (just under 15,000 snaps among them.) What catches my attention in this game is whether OU has actually imported an offense. I saw some highlights of Mateer last season and he didn't impress me. I see his name in Heisman lists now. I'm not sure what to make of the two.

I keep going back to Bama's game in Norman and I have the same feeling. I see Michigan keeping it respectful while I also see Michigan's new QB having some issues. It's not loud there but still carries its own advantage. No blow out; but the current line looks low.

I'd watch this game no matter what. It's somewhat ironic considering the context of the last time Bama saw both teams.
