If I remember the story correctly, there was a pig who built his house of straw and the wolf blew it over. Doesn't seem safe to me, unless you have a family member with a brick house that will let you live with them.
 
rammed earth and bale homes were depression era initiatives. Key phrase, "very few insulating materials..." no one ever depended on fiberglass batts, blown paper pulp or blown styrofoam to hold UP anything. It's to hold OUT cold/warm air. It's like saying, "very few cowards are war heroes..." Very few mesh baskets can hold water....
