http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/01/sec_football_by_the_numbers_al_4.html1 SEC team that won all of its games played away from its home field during the 2011 season -- Alabama, which posted a 6-0 record away from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

1
Team in the nation that gave up fewer than 1,000 rushing yards in 2011. Alabama yielded 938 rushing yards this season to lead the nation in rushing defense for the third time. The Crimson Tide also led the nation in rushing defense in 1945 and 1992.

1
Team in the nation that gave up fewer than 4 yards per play in the 2011 season -- Alabama at 3.3 yards per play.

1
Team played by Alabama this season that finished ranked in the top two-thirds of the 120 NCAA FBS teams in total offense. Arkansas came in 29th in yards gained per game in the 2011 season. Alabama played eight of the worst 26 offensive teams in the nation, as measured by yards per game. The ranks of Alabama's other opponents were Mississippi State 84, LSU 86, Penn State 95, North Texas 96, Vanderbilt 98, Auburn 100, Tennessee 104, Florida 105, Ole Miss 114 and Kent State 119. Georgia Southern ranked 13th in total offense in NCAA FCS.

1
Team that has shut out LSU in the Tigers' past 236 games -- Alabama, which blanked LSU for the third time in that span with a 21-0 victory in the BCS championship game on Jan. 9. That ended a 121-game LSU scoring streak that started after a 31-0 loss to Alabama in 2002. That shutout had ended a 72-game scoring streak for LSU that started after a 26-0 loss to Alabama in 1996. The most recent team other than Alabama to shut out LSU was Texas A&M, which opened the 1993 season by blanking the Tigers 24-0.

1

2

The former St. Paul's standout had only five of his 328 passes intercepted during the 2011 season. McCarron's ratio of one interception every 65.6 passes has been bettered only by Tennessee's Peyton Manning in 1995 and Alabama's Greg McElroy in 2009 among SEC passers with at least 300 attemps.

2
Teams that have led major-college football in the four major defensive categories in the same season, with this season's Alabama team joining Oklahoma's 1986 team as the only squads that have led the nation in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense and passing defense (since NCAA records began in 1937). Alabama's 183.6 yards per game given up in the 2011 season are the fewest since the 1986 Oklahoma team yielded 169.6. The Crimson Tide's total-defense average was the best for an SEC team since Alabama's 1979 unit yielded 180.1 yards per game.

2
Players who have been a coaches' first-team All-SEC selection at defensive back three times -- Alabama S Mark Barron, who made the team for the third straight season in 2011, and Florida S Will White, who was on the team from 1990 through 1992. Barron's three-peat extended Alabama's streak of placing a defensive back on the coaches' All-SEC first team to seven seasons, the longest current streak at one position for one school. Other All-SECs DBs during the streak for Alabama have been Roman Harper in 2005, Simeon Castille in 2006 and 2007, Rashad Johnson in 2007 and 2008 and Javier Arenas in 2009.

2

In 2009, the Crimson Tide had five consensus All-Americans -- G Mike Johnson, RB Mark Ingram, NG Terrence Cody, LB Rolando McClain and CB Javier Arenas. The only other SEC team with four consensus All-Americans was Florida in 2001, with DE Alex Brown, OL Mike Pearson, WR Jabar Gaffney and QB Rex Grossman.

Richardson finished his career with 3,130 yards on 540 carries, an average of 5.80 yards per carry. Auburn's Bo Jackson holds the SEC record for runners with at least 500 carries with an average of 6.62 from 1982 through 1985. Georgia's Garrison Hearst averaged 5.95 yards per carry from 1990 through 1992. Arkansas' Darren McFadden averaged 5.85 yards per carry from 2005 through 2007.

Andre Smith won in 2008, and Chris Samuels earned Alabama's first Outland in 1999. Since Samuels' trophy, Wisconsin is the only other team with more than one winner, with OT Joe Thomas in 2006 and OT Gabe Carimi in 2010.

3
