šŸˆ Alabama wide receiver Chris Black to miss rest of season

I've had high hopes from him since he landed in Tuscaloosa. Was a highly sought after WR coming out if high school. Thought he and Coop might make a dynamic duo. He had a rough shoulder injury before his freshman year started and has struggled to break into the lineup since. Hope he comes in next year and has a great season.

Same here. He was actually higher rated than Coop, I believe. But after that first major injury, and Coop's onslaught as a true freshman, he's been having a hard time living up to his expectations.

Did he play little enough this season to qualify for a medical redshirt, or did he take that his first year?

Although the first year redshirt was due to an injury it was just a regular redshirt. He was injured in August and did not play at all in 2012. The medical hardship waiver is used when a player is injured in the first half of a season and has not played in MORE than 30% of the team's total games. He would have been eligible if he had not played in more than 4 games in the first half of the season. They played him in SIX, which is beyond stupid! Bama rarely has a player of his caliber remain more than 3 years and they had an opportunity to have him for a SIXTH year. Leadership value alone in that scenario is worth tons.
