I will gladly apologize if I'm wrong, but I just don't see us winning this game. I have a hard time believing Daboll is going to change his predictable play calling, that Hurts is going to spread the ball around or that our defense isn't going to get stuck on the field due to its inability to stop Clemson on 3rd down. Additionally, I can foresee 3-4 defensive pass interference calls against our DBs and at least 2-3 big pass plays for Clemson.
I posted a thread containing an article that was on ESPN. Coaches have figured out Daboll's play calling and apparently Pruitt is just as predictable. I love BAMA. I LOVE BAMA and while we may have the players to beat Clemson, I don't think we have the best offensive scheme to utilize the talent we have. I will say it again, Jalen excelled in Kiffin's scheme because he created mismatches and allowed Hurts to create when things went wrong. This bland/uncreative offensive scheme and subpar offensive line play has been BAMA's albatross.
Finally, their front 7 is future NFL 1st round quality. We will have to use some unbalanced line formations and even bring in an extra offensive lineman or TE to protect Jalen and open running lanes for our RBs. We've all seen what Harris can do with just a hint of daylight and the boom Bo brings if he can square his shoulders. Defensively, Buggs needs to start over Hand and Davis needs to be a man on a mission. Far too many times he engages and stands straight up. While Davis has the weight and size to create a stalemate at the point of attack, Hand is usually getting pushed 2-3 yards out of position and giving up containment on the edge. And please stop playing so much man defense on obvious passing downs. Our DBs rarely turn to locate the ball and this is where the pass interference calls will be generated. Drop a LB, protect the middle of the field, keep the receiver in front of you and play some zone coverage. The failure to do this killed us last year on their final drive. Killed us! Just one batted ball or incomplete pass would have changed the entire dynamics of their final drive. Possibly the outcome of the game.
