Those of you that have piss running down your leg over this being a night game, look around and see who a couple of your bedfellows are in this thread.
I’m guilty myself of talking about the mystic and weirdness of the Jordan-Hare, I admit it. But the fact of the matter is, Bama goes into those games tight as a drum, while auburn goes into them with an excited. nothing to lose attitude, packed by a crowd that is going to energize them for every minute it stays a close game.
And whatever make believe curse was there seems to be dormant, if not completely dead. You guys seen their program lately? They're about to be on their 3rd coach since the Biden admin was elected president. Bama flipped the “voodoo” on them the last 2 trips down there. It might be a fun thing for the fans to banter about, or blame loses on, but it’s not a real thing.
And maybe, just maybe, if our own fans would dismiss the nonsense on the surface like it deserves to be at this point, the mystic would evaporate. Fans, students, and reporters will talk to players about it like they are headed into some unwinnable, mind bending, dark world, football ambush. Maybe it wouldn’t creep into their heads. Maybe instead of getting off the bus thinking “what if’s” they get off the bus looking to kick ass and empty the stadium in the 3rd quarter.
Yes, the atmosphere will be fully charged. Yes, it’ll be hostile and loud. Yes, it being at night adds to all of it and will take it from an 10 to an 11. It’s be best rivalry game in college football, it’s supposed to be this way, otherwise it's just a rivalry game.. But the game won’t be decided by some orange and blue shanker waving football gods from beneath the playing surface. It’ll be decided by how well prepared the Alabama team is is. And how well they execute for at least 60 minutes on the clock when the ball goes into the air.
But I implore you, stop with the defeatist attitude. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Try applying it to any other situation in your life and see what your results are. In the end, Bama may win. They should. They may also lose. If so, it’ll suck. It’ll also mean for the 2nd year in a row, they didn’t earn nor deserve a playoff spot. But I have a bit more faith in this team and staff. It would be cool if others did as well instead of cowering in the corners over a monster in the room that doesn’t exist. And stand behind the monster in the room that does.
Rant over. Roll Tide.
