To this point, Alabama's staff had been untouched by the coaching changes.
There was a move Sunday, however, that broke the streak. Mark Hocke, a six-year assistant strength and conditioning coach at Alabama, accepted a job at Georgia. He'll now be the head strength coach after working under Scott Cochran at Alabama.
"Mark received some outstanding recommendations from those in the industry and is known for his high energy, ability to motivate and relate to his athletes, as well as develop them mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially," Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a statement via Dawgs247.com. "We'll introduce Mark to our team in Charlotte on Wednesday and give him the opportunity to get to know our team throughout bowl week. This will allow him to be better prepared as we begin our training program in January."
Working mostly behind the scenes, Hocke got some attention celebrating a big play in this year's win at LSU. He was identified as the coach who high-stepped past Nick Saban after DeAndrew White caught a touchdown in overtime in a GIF that went viral.
Alabama's staff directory counts nine assistant strength and conditioning coaches including Hocke.
