I will only say this; CNS has repeatedly used the media to deliver re-enforcement of messages to his players. I have never known him to say something to the media that wasn't thought out and calculated. He had a reason for saying what he said at SECMD, I am not sure what that reason was but I am 99.99999% positive he knew/knows

Anyone who thinks all players are treated the same has either never coached or really stunk at it. If you don't know the difference between the QB position at Alabama and the right tackle then YOUR head is in the sand

If my point were a snake you'd have been dead before finishing typing "Anyone..."

There are certain situations that require all be treated the same. While one position may carry more interest it a set standard--no matter the position--on how one is supposed to handle themselves in public.

But for real, is the media lining up to interview Matt Womack and willing to put any sound bit on the front page of ESPN? It's not the same. Whether you or anyone else believes it, not all players/positions/people are treated the same in any program. For obvious reasons. (I'd love to see Saban coach the kickers the way he coaches DB's though).

Again, the importance of position doesn't translate to allowing different players to act differently according to position.

On that note we see people talking about Womack battling for a starting position he's held for two years. Do we see his father suggesting transfer? Do we see his mother on Facebook? Do we see Matt complaining when he's in front of the media?

No. We do not. And therein is the foundation of the analogy.

So if Saban is treating this the same way he's treating the OL battle, then he has no one to blame but himself for any media distractions. FTR as long as it's minimized and Tua is given the majority of the reigns vs Louisville, it's all good in my b

If we find Saban blaming himself for treating both battles fairly we should all hope to be in his shoes if the situation arises.

My head certainly isn't in the sand when I expect to see players treated equally and fairly. In both cases Saban has certainly met my standards (as little as they matter when it comes to Bama football.)

One thing mentioned previously I believe is important to keep an eye out on: was that Jalen's soliloquy?

When you have to raise your voice to tell the story, you've already failed. I don't understand how he still has a platform... I'd be ok if nobody ever posted his nonsense on this site again.

Is he wrong though?
He only made one statement/opinion known--he believes Jalen should be benched. "Is he wrong?" He takes the conversation to the NC game but that's not what the core issue is here.

Note the moderator bringing the debate back to "shouldn't there have been communication between the two." There was. It makes this whole debate they're having off the mark. One, because they're talking about performance versus comments and two, there was communication between the two.

Moderator: "Shouldn't Jalen know..." Does Jalen already know?

I personally think CS has it strategically planned out, just like everything else. Great coaches set their players up to succeed or fail... they put them in place and equip them with all of the tools necessary, and it's up to the player to make it or break it. IMHO, I think Saban answered the question and has directed this entire "process" to see how each QB handles the pressure and if they have the right "team attitude". Hurts has always carried the right attitude throughout his career, and I applaud him for that! However, most of that was in the wake of success. Its how you respond in the face of challenges that show your true colors. I'm not saying that Jalen is in any way "not a team player", however I do think he let his frustration (emotions) push aside his "tools", and that is exactly what you don't want in the heat of the game. I think it's all been a carefully calculated test to see how each responds... :flame suit on:
