Power's out in downtown Tuscaloosa, but Alabama wasn't affected in the slightest.

Everything was as precise as you'd expect with just a few days remaining until the season opener.

Here's the latest...
Setting the scene
For a second consecutive day, the humidity is low and the sunshine is powerful. The Crimson Tide wore full pads as temperatures hovered in the mid-80s.

What we saw

-- WR Kevin Norwood was limited a bit when Alabama's wide receivers started running deeper routes with the quarterbacks. He talked a bit with a trainer as the rest of his group went through drills. Alabama coach Nick Saban hasn't mentioned Norwood as a potential injury risk, so this could be designed to eliminate the stress on his surgically repaired toe.

-- This is why Saban cringes at the mention of depth charts. One day after he was listed as a backup at the Z receiver spot, freshman Robert Foster was catching passes behind Amari Cooper and Raheem Falkins, both of whom are listed as X receivers. On the other side was DeAndrew White, who is listed as an X receiver.

-- Kellen Williams was getting some work with the first-team offensive line during the second period of viewing. He was swapping in and out with Arie Kouandjio. It's become clear that Williams is this group's sixth man.

-- When the first team swapped T.J. Yeldon out, freshman Derrick Henry was the first running back to receive some carries behind the first-team offensive line. Jalston Fowler, who is listed as Alabama's No. 2 running back, remained at H-back.

-- Parker McLeod was the first scout team quarterback to be used. Cooper Bateman and Luke Del Rio remained with the quarterbacks during the second period of viewing.

-- After resting a bit during Monday's practice, LB Tana Patrick looked fine today.

What's next?

Select players will speak with reporters after today's practice. Saban will speak twice tomorrow: once on the SEC teleconference and once after practice.
