🏈 Alabama, Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and Devonta Smith in the record books

There's a handful of records set this past weekend. Here's more:

  • Mac Jones 28 completions places him ninth on the all time list: Most Completions in a game.
  • This is the second time Bama has scored 50+, four times in a row, against a single opponent. (1912-1915; Birmingham College.)
  • Mac Jones' completion percentage (87.5) is the highest ever by a QB at Alabama in a with 400+ pass yards.
  • 723 total yards are the 2nd most ever in a game (833, Va Tech, 1973.)
  • Najee Harris is the first player in Bama history with 200+ rush yards and 5+ rushing TD's.
  • Najee's five TD's ties him for second in the all time record book (Beard against Ole Miss in '02, Alexander against BYU in '98. Nathan Curtis holds the record with six; Tennessee in 1906.)
  • Devonta Smith's 12 receptions places him second on the all time list for catches in a game. (Cooper 2X and DJ Hall with 13.)

Mac, Devonta, and Najee all move up the ranks in their respective positions this week on Bama's 'All-Timers.'

We needed every yard in this game .....

It was nice to see that when it was a who could score last type game that BAMA kept their composure and did what they needed to do to stay with ole miss till haft time to be able to switch who was chasing who . Then to take the lead and manage to score every time they needed to and then some to put it away ....

In this game we did. First two not so much. Will not as easy this week.

I consider rushing for over 100 yards is a great feat. We have done that all three weeks. Especially when we are scoring through the air at will and very quick. Not being one dimensional is as big as it gets, and we aren't solely reliant on the pass, and obviously not the run. Our run game is there if and when we need it.

Honestly I expect around 200 yards/game average so 100 yards is not a great feat to me. I get that we have not needed to when you can pass for 400 yards/game. I hope you are right that we can run when we want to but even Saban was saying after the first couple of games that we needed to get better running the ball. I doubt we can do it when we want honestly. OM D was very poor against everyone they played. If bama gets 100+ this weekend they will have earned it. I think they will need to get in the 150 range honestly otherwise Smart will pin his ears back and get after he QB which would have an impact on Jones accuracy.

I’d like to see a stat comparison of Mac and Joe Burrow after 3 SEC games last year.

This should get you started.

I guess the century mark was always the bar for me. I guess when you get five guys, including quarterback, gaining yards it's not a ton like you said. I'll go with 150 as being a good day for me.
