📝 Alabama lands grad transfer OL Landon Dickerson from FSU

I'll be shocked if he ever sees the field.
He could very well be the top lineman at Bama next season. Top two, no doubt, IF he remains healthy.

You won't find yourself alone in thinking this way but those around him at FSU and those involved in his transfer back to Bama have mentioned he'll be competing in the fall. He can, and has, played every position on the offensive line.

In the end, even if he's just a back-up this season, he's a hell of player to add to the depth on the line. Consider this for a second. If Matt's foot and conditioning isn't back to where it needs to be we could easily be seeing to two compete for the right guard spot (at least for the first four games, if not longer.)

Wasn't he a very highly recruited player? Did we recruit him out of high school?
Yes, and yes. He came close to committing to Bama when he was recruited in '16.

This came through my FB page this morning. I don't know who wrote it or where it came from other than it's one of the recruiting sites.

It might seem far-fetched to expect Dickerson to compete for a starting spot in August camp. But sources familiar with Dickerson say that his versatility to play every position up front could benefit him greatly. With Deonte Brown, possibly the top right guard, suspended for the first four games, Dickerson could compete with senior Matt Womack for that spot. And with the Tide still trying to solidify the center position, Dickerson might get a strong look there. Moreover, his ability to play center might be his best opportunity to crack the lineup next season. In any case, adding an experienced player with his versatility is valuable for depth purposes.

Ive seen report that he will compete for Guard position...

That's where I think the nod goes to Matt. With both, health.

Remember, Brown is out for four games.

I've read where he could challenge the center position this fall.
Unless Tua grows a few inches over the summer, I would not suggest that.

He's going to get his shot at C, Josh. There's a shared opinion around the football complex that he may be able to challenge for a starting role more quickly at center than at guard.

Didn't he play all 3 years at FSU, but due to injuries wasn't able to play an entire season?
Pretty much. ACL, his first year, and ankle his second year (real slow recovery time,) and he 'shirted in '18. (Two games, which could be redefined as a hardship year if that ever came up.)

Two years of eligibility is important here in my opinion.

You've sold me Terry... This kid is going to be aight! RTR!

Kids is a monster and was a 5 star the year he came out. He had a season ending injury his first year and then another season ending injury the following year. Wonder if he is just injury prone?, just a couple of bad breaks?, looking just get somewhere to collect a ring before he hangs up the cleats?, or if he is really dominant and will be a factor if he can stay healthy. Who knows but the more the merrier.

I don't fully understand the two game hardship you're referring to. Now a days, there is no real difference in a Redshirt and hardship. It used to be that if you played 4 games and got injured you could apply for that year to be a "redshirt" year if you still had a redshirt available. Now, with the new rules, you can redshirt without having to apply for the hardship if you have a redhsirt available and 4 or less games played.
