An Alabama infielder added to his big season Wednesday with a bit of national recognition.

Shortstop Jim Jarvis became only the third Crimson Tide player awarded an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award. He joins Taylor Dugas (2011) and Kyle Overstreet (2013) as Alabama players who’ve taken this honor.

The senior from San Diego was a four-year starter in Tuscaloosa who was named to the SEC all-defensive team last year. His 484 career assists are eighth-most in Crimson Tide history while tying for the most double plays turned with 39.

As a senior, Jarvis had 156 assists compared to seven errors and a .974 fielding percentage -- down just slightly from the .975 from a year ago when he had 141 assists to six errors.

Jarvis batted .273 in 2023 with 30 RBI that included the game-winner in the Tuscaloosa Regional win over Nicholls State.

Alabama finished the season with a 43-21 record and the Tuscaloosa Regional title before falling to No. 1 Wake Forest in the Winston-Salem Super Regional.
