Another commitment in for the Tide

Four-star wide receiver John Metchie made his decision known on Friday to join Alabama after taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa last month.

“If I committed to Bama the reason I’d choose them would be the mentality of the players and the coaches — it’s the kind of mentality I have,” Metchie said after his trip to the Capstone. “It’s a place you go to get better … where they push you to be the best player you can be.”

The Hagerstown (Md.) St. James School product chose the Tide over Penn State, among others. One of the take-home moments from his inaugural visit to T-Town came from his time spent with head coach Nick Saban.

“The conversation with Coach Saban was more about the life lessons you would learn at Bama, the opportunities you would get there to be successful, whether it be a football player or whatever career you choose,” Metchie said. “It was about why Alabama would be such a good opportunity from a standpoint of what it has to offer.”

Love his attitude! Sounds like a really mature, positive kid.

Quick look at his film, looks like a jack of all trades. Not super explosive or big, but good speed especially when he gets rollin'.

Maybe he can be a Hanks type for us. Super dependable. Sure looks like either our staff or the kids are really pushing the envelope early with the earlier NSD option. I dig it.

Pretty sure he was a take at any point. His name has been around on the board for a while. He's a good pick up for us.

Two things--a fact and a thought/suspicion (and that's used loosely.)

Metchie and Pickens play two different receiver positions. I don't believe he's going to flip from Auburn.
