TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday that Alabama will take on Georgia on Saturday, March 6, in Athens, Ga. The contest will be televised on CBS and tip off at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET).
The two teams played just once this season on Feb. 13 in Tuscaloosa with the Crimson Tide capturing a 115-82 victory inside Coleman Coliseum.
The SEC announced today the men's basketball matchups for the final weekend of league play. Six games will be played on Saturday, March 6, and one on Sunday, March 7
Honestly it would be nice to see them get the win this weekend so maybe they could loosen up and just play. Every game they do not close it out the pressure will build. This is all new to this program given where it has been the last 20 years. Has Oats matured the winning and toughness culture enough this quickly to handle this? We are about to find out.

Several I've spoken with have compared this season to the 2008 season with football. I do see the similarities but also some differences. In both cases we've seen the cultural shift with the teams developing a new style and new approach mirroring their coach.
However, I see a difference in the 2008 football team learning to close out games (IE: learning to win in the end) and this basketball team. In their last three losses it hasn't been a case of closing it out as much as it's been a case of simply getting started. In all three games they were out of it in the first 10 minutes only to fight their way back to a close game but not quite enough to get over the hump they put themselves in during those first possessions.
You'll often hear shooters talk "if the first one goes in, it's on." That fits with what I've seen with this team; if they get it going early, it's on. If not? See the last three losses.

Agree which is my point on maturity and toughness. So if the shots do not fall early is the mentality going to be here we go again? Seems like true championship teams will find a way to overcome it. Is the main play in the play book drive and layup or kick out? If teams see shots are not falling they will more tightly defend the drive. Then are we done? This all speaks to maturity in my view. I have seen others also talk about this as basketball IQ. Maybe it is both. At some point a player has to adjust to find a way. Same way in the Arky game, officiating is calling the game tight so you the player must adjust. Now that game may have been over the top and maybe no one could have overcome that but adjustments are needed that would have kept it closer in my view.
