Alabama football will continue to avoid scheduling in-state schools

It is a "no-win" situation for Alabama to play Troy, Jax State, Samford, or UAB. Win the game, hear the ridicule as to "why didn't you win by more or cover the spread? Why did you leave your 1s in too long and get X players hurt?" Lose the game and HOLY CHITT!!! Like @TerryP has stated before, UAB and Samford are less than an hour away from being back in their cozy confines. Hell!! I have waited at times to get through the traffic headed back to Sylacauga before I stopped and grabbed a bite to eat. So I have taken my money out of Tuscaloosa before spending it. I imagine other BAMA fans have done so as well. You can only imagine the 100 or so UAB fans would do the same.
As for UAB, I have no love lost for them, even though my parents did received their masters there and my sister received her bachelors degree there. It stems from the Gene Bartow days. Being accused of cheating in recruiting simply because BAMA is kicking your fledgling ass in recruiting the in state kids is no way to win future games.

It's certainly one facet of why the city is where it is today. It's not the main reason but to suggest it hasn't had it's impact is short-sighted.

No one has suggested it would kill the local economy.

I have stated it helps the city with revenue. Any business owner in town will tell you the same. If I've heard it once, I've heard it a hundred times.

Dude. Those fans are going to come to town if it's UAB or UTC. Playing one, versus the other, isn't going to change whether Joe Smith decides to come.

Fans of UAB not staying in a local establishment doesn't equate to more tickets.

The ticket issue was brought up as UAB doesn't have many fans, so I made the comment that Alabama fans would scoop them up and add money to the economy. Either way, it's not an issue that is making or breaking Tuscaloosa, it may hurt some feelings, but UAB and Troy are not creating issues for the town of Tuscaloosa, the University of Alabama, or will it be putting anyone out of business and costing people jobs. Obviously people have hard feelings about UAB, but fiscally it's not a killer. Not sure if anyone can provide one economical fact or statistic that shows UTC or any of those teams are bringing in a substantial amount of money that in-state schools can't.

Let's call it static when it comes to making or breaking Tuscaloosa. Let's say they break even when it comes to whether it's UAB or UTC. Food, lodging ... :blahblah:
