Alabama football players and coaches plan to march from the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility to Foster Auditorium Monday afternoon. Alabama wide receiver John Metchie was the first of many to publicize the march on Instagram, and running back Najee Harris publicized the logistical details on Twitter.

Earlier in the summer, UA football posted a message on racial inequality written by offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, which ended with five players repeating, "Because all lives can't matter until Black lives matter."

Protesting around the SEC has in some cases meant skipping previously scheduled practices, as was the case at Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Kentucky.

Foster Auditorium is where, on June 11, 1963, then-Governor George Wallace stood in the door attempting to prevent two Black students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, from enrolling at UA. Foster Auditorium has since been renovated into an athletic facility and currently hosts the UA volleyball team.

So what do they want...what changes does anybody believe they will rid the world od racism, prejudice, hate, violence, etc....
They scream about all this...and support a democratic president nominee...that selected his VP based on ...openly stated .... sex and race... not "best candidate out there"...how sexist and racist is that

Maybe the players from all sports can then head to Chicago next weekend and help prevent the 50-70 shootings of Black on Black persons.

Then again maybe not.

Saban was WAY ahead on this situation bringing in speakers and leaders from around the nation to help these guys find a way to express their feelings on how things are going in today's world. Way ahead of this.

Look no further than down south a bit and you'll see a huge difference in how one coach handled his team and how Bama's handled theirs.

Again, this is a situation where you have to separate the BLM organization from people worried about social injustices.

I can appreciate that take on it but the social injustices are more or less just feelings and have little basis in fact. You more or less implied it yourself. No one is oppressed in America, this is exploitation of emotions of people who are ignorant of facts.

This is where A LOT of people are missing the boat! I’ve seen a lot of comments that include ā€œif they are supporting BLM, then I’m done with them!ā€ Not one time have these kids said one word about supporting that organization. You can be for one and not the other!

This, I said the same thing in the thread "Something is weird down on the cow pasture". Herm Edwards, Condezza Rice and even Charles Barkely have counselled these guys on how to do this as a team and in a way that will have the most impact but not split the team. Saban is the GOAT and is way out front on this.

With that said, if this turns into what the NFL/NBA and the politicians are doing then as hard as it will be I will walk away from Bama football. I would not expect that to happen under Saban's leadership.

Then you've misunderstood me. Yes, I do believe a lot of these protests are based on emotion; hatred being among the top reasons on that list.

But, follow along with me for a minute here. I do believe there are social injustices within the judicial system and we've been seeing this. As one example take the crime bill passed in 1994 where the sentencing guidelines for crack vs powder cocaine are so different. I've read and heard the number 100-1. I remember hearing how a crack charge could carry as much as 25 years for a quarter of a gram with powder being far less. That disproportionately affects the black community because one is found more prevalently there than in the white community: crack.

One of the names we've heard a lot since the RNC is Alice Johnson. She is a case, a factual case, of the injustice found within the judicial system. She's in the same realm as those charged with crack versus powder; where is equal justice?

Oppression is a different story in itself. Yes, I do believe you make of your life what you want to make of your life. However, when I see people staunchly opposed to school vouchers—which would give minority families the opportunity to have their children receive a better education—I see that as a group oppressed. At the very least, children being treated differently; almost as a subset of the community. If you're denying a group of people the opportunity to have a better education, how is that not oppression?

Let's flip the script a bit. Do you believe Affirmative Action doesn't oppress people who are more qualified for a position in the workforce?

How many times have you seen it mentioned how what these kids see in the professional leagues find their way to colleges, and then high schools?

I can attest these guy see professionals whom they respect as athletes, they see them taking their stand, and feel they should be doing something as well.

Wow. Some of the responses here are simple amazing. I speak to young people of all races, socio-economic groups and ethnicities and I will definitely be using this thread as a point of discussion at the next group meeting.

If want to read some responses or comments that will make your head spin, join some of the "Alabama fand pages" on Facebook. They will leave you speechless.

In a good or bad way :)? I think a lot of people have subconsciously connected BLM and BLM organization with the rioting and discord we see every day in places like Seattle and Portland. Part of that is also the defund the police and socialism movements being promoted in many places. I think this is what Saban proactively helped the team with when he brought in people to speak to the team. Easier to get out in front of this than to try and deal with the after effects if these kids are left to navigate through the media narratives unchecked.

Some people have consciously associated BLM and the BLM organization with rioting and discord. Rightfully so, in some cases, due to the people sowing discord and rioting are using this as their front, their platform. We've seen instances where organizers of a BLM protest have encouraged destruction.

The video of what happened after night four of the RNC and seeing people scream at some of the guests...that's not a subconscious association. Just listen to what they are saying.

It's eerily akin to dealing with some of the people we see from some college football fan bases.

No, we actually do agree more or less. I said the same when the crime bill you mention was passed. Yes there are disparities such as you mentioned and as someone that despises multi tier justice that makes my head explode. I’m also against privately ran prisons, if the government incarcerates you, they must run the prisons. We have too many in prison for bullshit. Always have been against affirmative anything that takes ethnicity into account. The school voucher issue is the plantation democrats baby. You only seem to be missing that they are not rioting to improve the country or lives. They are rioting to end them.

I will say that every chapter of blm should be hunted down and exterminated with extreme prejudice. I feel the same for the rest of the racist and race hustler organizations including the ADL, SPLC, KKK, Skinheads, etc. The congressional black, Hispanic, muslim caucuses must be disallowed.

That would be a post racial America. Still, about 10M stupid laws would need to be scrapped.
