Bama's up 25 - 14 with 7:45 left. That's good, not great. Still way too many turnovers. Six inside the first seven minutes...Some are just passes that get thrown right to the ugly orange. Beetle's back, which is great news.

And more turnovers to close the half and TN cuts lead below 10.

Coach Oats was quoted recently saying his team still hasn't learned to play up tempo yet. They're playing faster than they ever have, but they're counting on players to be in certain places. The subsequent pass to the other team is becoming too frequent. Probably a big part of what Oats was talking about.

It’s okay to like the effort, to like coach Oats and this style of play he brought to Bama; but 1 thing for sure is that this isn’t a good basketball team (injuries and transfer denial also hasn’t helped).

Coach O’s offense is not a good fit for this team. He has only 2 players that are capable of doing what he wants. That’s Lewis & Petty. You sometimes have to adapt to what your players can do.

Well once again we can't defend without fouling. Poor ball IQ by Reese and 20 turnovers again out rebounded by 9. Let me count the ways we lost this game. We led by 15 in this game. Turn out the lights.

Listen guys. We are minus our glue guy our most consistent player. Petty tries to fill that role, played good defense, got a bunch of rebounds and deflections.. it cost us his normal scoring output.
The turnovers weren’t good but the whistles is why we lost this game and the foul calls where very uneven.. for the second game in a row.I don’t know why the refs are giving coach Oates such a hard time but it’s obvious.

Tennessee was inthe bonus with 15 minutes left in the second half and in the double bonus with 10 minutes left. at this same point Tennessee had been called for 3 fouls were playing more agressive defense and we were driving to the basket.

No doubt we still should have taken care of the ball better but the calls are going against us.. even at home.

our depth is an issue, teams are attacking it and bad calls are helping.

What the heck happened? I have not gotten to watch the last two game and its sounds like the wheels are falling off. I expected the LSU loss but dang you have to beat Ark and the Viles at home period. The 5 game stretch starting with Whoville concerned me. Critical games they needed to win at home. Sounds like Jones is hurt. On the D side of the ball that hurts big time. He also gets several rebounds and is good for a few points.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball team dropped a narrow decision to Tennessee on Tuesday night inside Coleman Coliseum, falling 69-68. The Crimson Tide gave up 19 offensive rebounds on its way to being outrebounded 42-33 and was forced into 20 turnovers to result in its season-long third consecutive loss.

The biggest story was at the free throw line, as the Volunteers connected on 23-of-32 foul shots for the game compared to just 5-of-8 for the Crimson Tide. That included 21 free throws in the second half alone for UT while Alabama attempted only two from the charity stripe after the intermission.

It was the second consecutive home loss for Alabama (12-10, 4-5 SEC), which fell to Arkansas last Saturday despite leading for more than 25 minutes in that contest. The Tide also held the lead over Tennessee for 32:27 of Tuesday night's game but failed to pull out the victory.

Sophomore Kira Lewis Jr. led Alabama with 19 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field, to go along with four assists and three boards. Freshman Jaden Shackelford finished with 12 points, connecting on 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Junior John Petty added eight points and lead the Tide with 11 rebounds and a career high-tying seven assists.

Tennessee was led by John Fulkerson who finished with 22 points, while Jordan Bowden added 20. Yves Pons was big inside as he finished with 14 points and a game-high 14 boards on the night, including eight offensive rebounds.

Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments

"Tough one. It's kind of the same story as last game. We came out ready to play. Our effort was good to start the game. Defensive effort was great for the first 12 minutes. We kind of relaxed a little but for the last eight, we didn't close the game well. They ended the half on an 8-1 run when we were up 15 with under two minutes to go. Then they started the second half on a run so it's the same issue we've been having. I can't put my finger on it. I don't have an answer. The leadership to get us ready to play has been great. If you look at our starts, we've had two good starts in two straight games. I don't have an answer for why we can't sustain that effort. I thought we made some good plays. We outrebounded them by one in the first half and then got outrebounded by 10 in the second half. It was tough with the foul trouble. We have three bigs that we play in the rotation and they all end up fouling out which was big, because they bodied us up inside. John (Petty) had to play the four position pretty much the whole night because of us being in foul trouble, but he did a great job and had 11 rebounds. He battled hard in there, but it's not really his position playing the four. Foul trouble, injuries, we miss Herb (Jones). That would clean up some of the rebounding issues. We've got to do a better job of playing defense without fouling. That's an issue. 32 to 8 at the free throw line. We've got to figure out how to defend without fouling."

I don't understand why Bama never gets home court advantage like every other team in the NCAA. On every other court the home team always has the advantage in fouls and free throws, but not in Tuscaloosa. I Know this sounds like an LSU or Auburn fan, but come on. Last night Bama had 26 fouls to Ucheats 14. We had 3 players foul out, and they had 2 players in foul trouble. they shot 32 free throws to Bama's 8. That is a huge disparity, and it just screams conspiracy. Okay, maybe not conspiracy, but definitely fishy.

Or it screams your players aren't very intelligent.....injuries are huge but playing smart isn't something that takes place with Bama and hasn't

Sounds like Jones is hurt? He had surgery on a broken wrist.

We have held leads of 15 points against Florida, Arkansas, and Tennessee. His scheme seems to work fine. Holding the lead is another story.

Fouls have killed us and I am of the same belief as you that even the calls at home have been soft. Against Tennessee they were in the double bonus with 9 minutes left in the game. Against Arkansas they were in the double bonus with 13 minutes left in the game! Allowing that many "free" points will get you every time.
