TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 24/25 Alabama men's basketball team will look to snap its two-game skid when it makes the short 80-mile trek to Starkville, Miss., to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday at 5 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

It marks the first of two contests played between the longtime rivals, as the Bulldogs make the return trip to Tuscaloosa Feb. 16 (6 p.m. CT).

Saturday's game will mark the 207th meeting between the teams – the most games played against any single opponent in program history. UA owns a 129-77 edge in the all-time series which also is the most wins against in single team in program history.

In its last trip to Starkville, Alabama snapped a three-game losing streak inside at Humphrey Coliseum with its 64-59 victory to clinch the league's regular season title. It was the Tide's fourth win over the last seven games played in Starkville, where it holds a 41-57 (.418) all-time record.

Alabama is coming off a second-straight loss – the Tide's first two-game losing streak since suffering back-to-back losses to end the 2019-20 campaign – as it fell to No. 4/4 Auburn, 81-77, Tuesday night in Coleman Coliseum. The loss snapped the Tide's 17-game home winning streak, as UA fell to 7-1 this season under the arched roof.

These guys need to stop the bleeding tonight. Will be hard as a road game although I really know nothing about this years version of Mississippi State. I know in the past they could be problematic especially in their place.

It’s going to be really hard for this team to win any games especially on the road. This team is built on driving the lane and either shooting or looking for the 3 point outlet. Even if the outlet is open this team is inconsistent on hitting 3’s. Not to mention the poor play on defense and rebounding.

Offensively it is the same as last year but the elite D and effort are missing.

#1 Baylor just went down, Michigan State lost, LSU lost, Texas lost, Seton Hall lost. Everyone is dropping games this year, so this is why I'm not all that concerned with where we are at the moment. Meaning we have time to get better and we're in the same boat as everyone else. Now we have to have our leaders step up and take charge to be rhe team we know we have. It is just showing the rest of the country are going through the same issues we are.

So aggravating that we keep trying to throw lobs at the basket on 2-on-1 breaks instead of just taking the easy layup and drawing the foul or going strong to the rim. Seems we misfire on over half the lobs and it leads to turnovers.
