Just heard about someone in my area being arrested for rape and sodomy. The reports mentioned he was a Bama commit.

I saw part of their game against Daphne on TV Monday. He had a good game. That's the extent of my knowledge.

To add, none of that information was in the report that I read. It simply said he was arrested on those charges and was a student at Spanish Fort High.

Which is unfortunate since the average person in today's age will see the headline on a news site or briefly hear the charges mentioned on the radio and it's automatically, "rape.. sodomy.. omg wtf little boys" going through your mind. Not good for the reputation anyway

The big problem for this kid now is what he's up against.
I've heard and heard of case after case of statutory situations were one kid was 15, the other 15 and had a birthday. they're still screwing around and them moma finds out.
Problem is with the laws on the books now (SORNA) the kid is screwed for life. He/she will serve a life sentence....even if it was consentual. This is one of those areas where the laws go too far.
There is no RISK BASED assement in SORNA at all. Megans Law & the Walsh Act pretty much out the nails in the coffin and threw due process rights right out the window.


I have a cousin who is living under SORNA/WALSH ACT now. Poor guy was 22, in love with a 23 yr old chick that had a crack head husband and 3 kids already. He knocks her up with #4 while her and crackhead are split up. She has the baby, gives it up and moves to California. two months later she calls him up begs him to come out west and he does. (dumb ass) He's there a month before they have a huge blow up about the baby, he threats to come back and get his kid from the adoptive parents. Next thing he knows he's in hand cuffs acused of molesting her six year old daughter....his daughters half sister. A kid he practically helped raise since Crackhead was never around. Goes to jail out there, pleads nolo, does 8 months on a year county time( Kid had never even had a parking ticket till then) gets on a bus for Bama the day he gets out. Does 5 years supervised probation. And is now a registerd Tier 1 sex offender and will be so FOR LIFE. That happend in 1995. he's kept his nosed clean ever since. This has affected our entire family.
He now has a wife and 2 teenage kids. He can't even go to the school to check them out. No ball games, nothing. So he's stuck with this forever.

Kicker to the story.....3 years AFTER he got arrested & convicted of this.....the chick he had the baby by & her Crack head husband reconcile....move to Missouri and with in 3 months are busted in a kiddy porn ring and both get charged with sodomy with a child under 14. Stop and soak that in...the WOMAN got a sodomy charge.
It would apear that Jimmy was telling the truth all along. But none of that matter becuse there is nothing that canbe done about it and guilt or inocene play no part in it.

MY point: the laws are messed up and need to be fixed so that this statutaory thing never happens. Age of consent in Alabama for a female is 16 last i heard. This kis blew away a bright future for what would amount to proble 5 mins of passion. IF it was a mutual consentual act. there needs to be leanancy. But IF he forced himself on that girl he needs to never see the outside of prison again. period.

But i have a feelling there is much more to this Deon Johnson story to come out.

That's definitely true.. but I will say that in any other case, you're almost always talking about weed, DUI or fist fights. "Rape and sodomy" gets the attention though and requires a little more assessment of the story

I knew what you meant and of COURSE that's not what I meant either. Lol. I was responding to the "he probably lost that scholarship" part and was mostly joking

yeah both are minor's but one being 16 and the other under 16. be it male or female. Example i had in mind here was a kid i went to highschool with. was dating a black girl and they had been messing around since they were like 14. Thier birthdays were less than 2 months apart. Momma found out what they had been doing and waited till the month after his 16th birthday to file charges. This was in the mid to late 80's. Her mom did not like whites @ all. he caught a statutary charge. they were married right out of high school. Daughter enrolled as freshman @ Faulkner. Happy ending right? WRONG. Alabama's laws went retroactive in 2010. poor guy is now a registerd sex offender for life.

Not a lawyer but....if we can asume anything from reading the above statute....the female in the Deon Johnson case is over the age of 14 and under the age of 16???
