šŸ€ Alabama @ Auburn Thread

Did not get to see the game live. Just finished watching it. I can tell you the stress level knowing the outcome was pretty low :). The team was embarassed with effort and on the boards against Florida. They were not going to let that happen today. Nelsons play was huge today as was Philon. The bigs brought it as well. This is one game and at the end of the day I still never measure how good bama is or can be by a win against the barn. Bama outplayed the Viles so they should have been 4-3 during this stretch but ended 3-4. You never know what is going to be a spark for a post season run so lets see if this does it. I think rest will help this team big time....

Good win and ruined all kinds of stuff for the Barn which is always good thing. Roll Tide Gentlemen....

Not sure anything would have made a difference against Florida they were just better. Mizzou game was really poor D. Vile game yes one small thing makes the difference in that game.

If we just shoot 70% from the FT line, we win!! You mentioned missing shots in close, I mentioned the fact that 7 footers alter A LOT of shots Broome, Cardwell, Johnson even when they donā€™t leave their feet. Did you know that you had the Top 4 active leaders in blocked shots on the floor today? Broome, Cardwell, Nelson and Omoruyi. I was just stating that those long ass arms are a cause for a lot of misses.
As far as turnovers go, without a doubt! Be a little more under control and protect the damn ball! That closing stretch of games wears you down mentally as well as physically. Against UT and UF, we looked like we had dead legs. A step slower on the jump and nothing on our jumpers.

The bitching I've seen online this morning is epic in proportion. It's "sweet" considering Bruce did the same thing a few years ago. Elephants and memory, ya know.

One thing that struck me last night/this morning was the post game presser...players emulate their coach...watch how often Mark and Grant refer/look to the stat sheet. It's not "what did I do." It's following the math.

This was a nice tight win against auBarn. Could have, should have been a comfortable win in regulation. IF.
I'm not just citing this game against auBarn, but throughout this season, we have had games where we missed many shots around the basket.
won some of those , lost some, no matter the the team or competitiveness of their bigs. I have heard CNO say in press conferences this year saying we need to shoot better around the rim.
It seems to me that there are many drives to the rim, trying to draw a foul. and making half hearted attempt to make the basket, only for the ref swallow his whistle. Though I am not against trying to get fouls on particular players. My view is to give maximum effort to make the shot, fouls will happen organically.

On another note. In football games. When a defender, db, linebacker or whoever, drops a sure interception, the offense opponent goes on to score a touchdown or field goal. Often times that score is the winning difference in the game. I have noticed this no telling how many times through the years in college and pro.

In football, it is said to be a game of inches. The team with fewest mistakes usually wins. Can be said about almost every sport.

Itā€™s aggravating, no doubt! I used to get so pissed when I was coaching basketball at guys constantly leaving inside shots short. We would practice from the box over and over, yet in games, we would still get the same results. It gets to be mental, I guess.
Refs let them play yesterday, like you said, swallowed the whistle on a lot of drives in the paint. I know Cardwell literally tackled Philon on a drive and it shouldā€™ve been an ā€œand 1ā€ situation. Nothing!! I did like the fact that the refs did stay consistent at least. Let them play throughout instead of trying to reel them during the last 10 minutes or so. I hated those crews as a player and as a coach, no consistency and you canā€™t get in a flow.

The number of misses at the basket (recently) is puzzling.
