As far as turnovers go, without a doubt! Be a little more under control and protect the damn ball! That closing stretch of games wears you down mentally as well as physically.
The problem with the turnovers is that Oats wants us playing at an unbelievable pace. So automatically as Alabama gets the ball trying to push the ball upcourt, they're trying to do what they can to get a shot off in the first 10 seconds. If they can't, it's a reset to the halfcourt offense, where the big is giving high ball screens around the perimeter and the ball handler is trying to find a lane or open shot. Unfortunately it starts to become position-less basketball, so you'll have a wing or pot up shooter as the primary ball handler, and they're trying to do something only three of our guys should be doing (Holloway, Sears, and Philon). I don't think Youngblood should ever put the ball and definitely shouldn't drive in traffic. Same with Stevenson, as he's had way too many errant passes and dribbles too high. I think Nelson is a little more confident driving, but still not the best ay finishing around the rim.
Would love your thoughts on it. I think we're at our best when guys have a better understanding of their roles.
I think Sherrell definitely should have gotten a ton more minutes this season. He doesn't have the best footwork (yet) defensively, but he's everything Oats wants in a 5 IMO.
