šŸ€ Alabama @ Auburn Thread

They played to their potential today and got a hard fought win. Defense and free throws were a little rough but ultimately they made the plays to win great team effort today.

If they play like this until the end of the year we could be cutting nets. Also weird we did this with Sears having a bad shooting day

here the thing, these players can play to win the game.

Stevenson & Youngblood playing better in next few weeks will decide how far this team can go in tourney. I really like the progress Sherrill has made over the course of the season but hard to envision a scenario where he and Cliff are on the floor together. I think expecting Reid to make a difference at this point is wishful thinking, but Mo D has been off his game and hopefully that could also be huge if he turns it around (especially on the glass).

A miss is a miss. Lots of missed short shots , layups and dunks most games. Usually more than our opponent.
True! But a miss with a 7 footer contesting your shot is a HELLUVA lot more understandable. A lot of times, guys give too many head and shoulder fakes and end up dragging their pivot foot and turning it over, if they don’t rush it in an attempt to avoid the block. Hell! The damn kid from the Barn missed how many shots in the paint, Broome? It happens! It’s basketball!

Sorry fellas. We have drill in Bham this weekend so I missed most of the second half and couldn't participate in the thread. Hell of a gritty win. Nelson started off so well, went on bit of a dry streak, and then took back over.

Johni Broome is a damn good player too. Really overall great post player that is capable of attacking you in so many different ways.

Think Philon really showed some toughness down the stretch. Showcased his ability to push the ball upcourt. Still think he far and away has the best vision on the team. His facilitating is just top notch. Had a much better game than Holloway.

Wild how basketball works. I was complaining about how we've been really good at beating ā€Šgood teams this season, but have really struggled vs the elite teams (minus the win vs Houston). Get sort of worked vs Florida at home, lose a close one to Tennessee in the last second, lose to auburn at home, and then play zero D vs Mizzou. All of this kind of proved that this squad was really good, but just not at that elite status yet. Not ready to give them that status yet, but they proved me wrong. This was an elite win.

I'm going to bed now. What a game.

I think you may be missing my point. Would we have gone into overtime if we had made just 3 more close in shots? or if we had made just three more foul shots? Or turned the ball over 3 fewer times?

Also, If we had played just a little bit better we would have beaten Tenn, maybe Ol Miss and Fl. A turnover takes away any chance for any bucket and gives your opponent a chance at any bucket. A turnover in any part of the game can be the difference in winning and losing. Same thing with a missed free throw or missed layup, dink or dunk. I been watching ball for a long time. All players make and miss shots. All players commit turnovers. Not always, but usually the team with fewer mistakes wins the game.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
