TUSCALOOSA ā Alabama will turn to three of its multi-year returning starters to represent it at the Southeastern Conference's annual Media Days next week in Hoover.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban will be joined by senior center Bradley Bozeman, junior defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick and junior receiver Calvin Ridley when the Crimson Tide take the main stage at 9 a.m. Wednesday on Day 3 of the annual preseason event from the Hyatt Regency Birmingham-Wynfrey Hotel.
Bozeman is entering his second season as Alabama's starting center after successfully taking over for multi-year starter Ryan Kelly prior to last season, anchoring the middle of Alabama's offensive line from the very first game.
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick and Ridley have started nearly every game they've played since arriving at Alabama as five-star freshmen in 2015.
As the jack-of-all-trades within the Tide secondary, Fitzpatrick enters what could be his final season at Alabama with the potential to play both cornerback or safety at an All-American level, having made 25 starts in the last two seasons.
With 26 starts already under his belt, Ridley has led the Tide with a combined 161 receptions for 1,814 yards and 14 touchdowns over the last two seasons and is in line to take over as leader of Alabama's talented receiving corps this season.
Coming off its third straight College Football Playoff appearance, and second straight championship game, the Crimson Tide are once again believed to be considered the favorite to win the conference. Alabama will face heavy competition from several re-emergent programs, including rival Auburn and LSU.
Auburn will be represented by head coach Gus Malzahn and All-American senior kicker Daniel Carlson, senior safety Tray Matthews and senior offensive lineman Braden Smith when the Tigers make their appearance about noon July 13, the final day of the four-day event.
Among the other notable player representatives are six quarterbacks ā including two returning sophomore starting quarterbacks in South Carolina's Jake Bentley and Ole Miss' Shea Patterson ā and four running backs in LSU's Derrius Guice, Vanderbilt's Ralph Webb and the Georgia duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.
