🏈 After Cooper's first TD

I think, early in the game, Saban wanted to run the ball more to try and keep the AU offense on the sideline. My guess is he thought we were scoring too fast and wanted to slow the pace of the game.

The funny thing is that his press conference, he admitted that we need to have more explosive plays b/c of what AU was doing.

Exactly. I was waiting for the previous replies after which I was planning to mention this very point. How does Saban claim credit for telling Kiffin to open the offense up after halftime when he was apparently opposed to it in the first half?

I think that is what CNS wanted at first & was his game plan. However, after half-time when our DB's were getting beat & especially as Marshall continued to be spectacular, CNS said screw it, they ain't stopping us on offense. I think this became more clear after we had that TD drive w/ Yeldon running for the most part. Then AU comes out & throws another 50+ yarder.

Oh gotcha. So after Auburn's success and Sims' interceptions, Saban "tells" Kiffin "as you were." ;) Makes sense though. Perhaps the first half would have unfolded differently if we would have committed to the run. I just felt that with Yeldon and Henry so banged up, we had to limit and spread out their carries very carefully. It spoke volumes to see Tyren Jones so early in the game.

Speaking of RB depth, what happened to Scarbrough? Did he ever arrive on campus? And is it known if Ronnie Clark going to end up at RB next season?

We were up 14-3 pretty early in the game, Im thinking less than 5 min in. AU had not exploded offensively yet so Saban was still in his usual runfirst/playD gameplan. He wanted to eat clock and limit AU possessions. After he saw our D couldn't cover their WR he decided we needed to outscore them and unleashed Kiffen to call what he wanted.

I believe he initially thought, let's limit their possessions and keep their offense on the sidelines. Kiffin is looking at that shitty defense and is drooling like a 5 year old in front of a candy store window. Saban then realizes that our defense is struggling to stop water, much less their offense, so he tells Kiffin to lay the hammer down!!
