🏈 Adam Griffith will be our kicker for 2016

This is great news to wake up to. I may have been the only fan pulling for him even when he was missing.

Nope, I was too. His story (Polish orphan), the Kick Six, etc. .. I don't know how you can't root for him. I would have lost my confidence after 2013 too .. But instead he came back determined to make up for what he perceived as all his fault .. And he's done a damn good job. The onside kick vs. Clemson was perfection and he came full circle.

My mom absolutely loves him because she's Polish haha so there's that.

Coach Saban may have told them to do it, but it was Adam that did it just right. Sorry PhillyGirl I should have known, sorry too, Forgot about your mother Polish side.

How many Phillygirl's does it take to screw in a light bulb? Sorry, hadda. Feel free to make Mick and Kraut jokes at my expense.

He executed both onside kicks to perfection this past year. His KOs have been above average on number of deep/unreturnable kicks. His issue on missed FGs has always been kicking it straight from the hashes, not hooking it. Seems to be worse from right hash. He seemed to have that worked out until the one missed kick last Monday. He may have gotten a lot of hate but he is a pretty solid kicker. Here is hoping he rounds into a finalist for the Groza next year.

I almost wish he would have walked...just to show up all those whiny fans who were raising hell about him earlier. I guess he just has more class than they do. And me more than I do, too.

This was the first I'd ever heard of him not finishing his career...

So he was going to quit/retire, before he started making field goals? But he's decided to play because he's improved?

Glad to have him back, just confused on the circumstances.

"Word" is that he was considering dropping football to concentrate on his Master's Degree.

I think if we'd gotten the kid who went to UF he'd have bowed out. He'll still be the guy next year. Perfect on PATs, one point shy of highest scoring season by a kicker, 71 percent FG percentage is solid, and his 55 yarder tied the Bama record for the longest FG without a tee. Over half of his KOs were touchbacks. I don't have the all time records, but it's the best of the Saban era, and other than Foster's one good year of kicking deep, no other kicker comes close.

By my count, he just knocked Bill Davis out of the sixth spot all time in kicking points. He has a chance to approach records. If he repeats this year's performance, he'll end up all time number two between Leigh Tiffin and Phillip Doyle.

RTR,

Tim

I think a mixture of AG's resurgence and a horrendous UF need actually lost us Pineiro's commitment.

Looking forward to another solid kicking game next year

Pineiro's story is one of the more interesting ones this recruiting class.

I'm sure you remember the grayshirt hoopla with Philon. We know how it turned out ... still, a playing time issue, right?

EP's offer back in the summer was 'sitting and then having four to play four.' UF falls apart in front of his eyes this fall. Their walk-on/try-out deal was a good six weeks before we saw him heading to Gainesville. And, he's watching their story from Miami of all places. (Miami was offering at the time and we saw their stability this fall ...family of Hurricane fans.)

He's coming from JUCO, playing soccer, and looks at playing time ... after not qualifying to play out of high school. Now, he's looking at three major offers ...

Two hypothetical questions for the hell of it:

1) What would you do in Eddy's situation?
2) Imagine you're Eddy's dad ... as a Hurricane fan, are you thinking about '92 when you're hearing the about your son's opportunity in Tuscaloosa?

1) I would likely have done the same unless a NC opportunity was a personal goal. As I said, I think he was likely told AG wasn't coming back and saw the opportunity to come in and play immediately at the biggest school on the biggest stages. AG bounced back and he had to reassess that situation. UF needs him and is closer to home.

2) No. That's a 20+ yr grudge that saw the U bounce back with some of the greatest teams ever. The U had whooped up on Bama a couple years earlier. I'd blame complacency, egos, and coaching much more than Bama for blowing that game. I doubt I'd have real animosity about my son picking Bama, especially if my school was a mess and my son would maximize exposure for his efforts at Bama. That said, QB and PK at Bama are probably more pressure filled than any other school given Bama fans "passion" and propensity to vocalize it to extremes, so that may give me pause as a father. Also, the U hates FSU, but all 3 major schools/fan bases hate each other pretty strongly. The only thing UF and FSU fans agree on for the most part is that the private school to the south was built on thuggish teams with the highest propensity of sidewalk fans in a city known for its Fairweather fan base. So, other than proximity to home, UF has more downside in my eyes as a U fan than Bama
