🏈 A new consultant on campus: DJ Durkin is on campus working with the football program.

Fresh set of defensive eyes breaking down game film on our next opponent(s). Everybody needs to quit being so sensitive. Making the girl scouts look like air borne rangers.

I haven't read what was said, or written for that matter, but I understand both Finebaum and Wolken had some things to say yesterday. What I find funny is the players didn't even know he was on campus until the article came out...and that's setting aside the fact no one really knows what he's doing. I hope it's breaking down opposing offenses. He has a fairly good defensive background.

Terry.......is it possible that DJ is actually in TitleTown to assist Locks with his move to Maryland (player personal) once Locks takes off his Bama hat for the day and puts on his Turtle hat? There is no way Locks could acknowledge such help via the media from DJ.

There's a lot of takes on him being in town: a lot of them speculation. Let's say this...he's in town consulting Locks. That'll create a wave, or two.

When I mentioned that yesterday it was a tongue in cheek comment. However, if I'm Locks and DJ is there I'm talking to him about personnel, etc. Why not?

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Nick Saban provided clarification of former Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin’s involvement with Alabama in recent weeks.

Durkin was fired in October after an investigation into the death of Jordan McNair revealed a toxic culture within the Maryland football program. Thursday, a report from AL.com revealed that Durkin has been helping the Crimson Tide’s defensive coaching staff but stated it was unclear whether or not he had a long-term role with the team. Friday, Saban made it clear Durkin has not been hired by Alabama.

“DJ Durkin is spending a few days with our staff in Tuscaloosa from a professional development standpoint,” Saban said in the release. “He has not been hired in any capacity at The University of Alabama. He is simply observing our operation as many other coaches have done through the years.”

Durkin, 40, posted a 10-15 record over two seasons at Maryland. Before that, he served as a defensive coordinator at Michigan (2015) and Florida (2013-14).

No. 1 Alabama will face No. 4 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 29 as part of the College Football Playoff. The Sooners have the No. 1 offense in the nation, averaging 49.5 points and 577.9 total yards per game.
