💬 A Guns Thread

I love when people try to say things like "silencers are illegal" or "fully automatic machine guns are illegal".

The proper name for a "silencer" notwithstanding, neither "silencers" NOR fully automatic machine guns are illegal. As long as you have the right paperwork and the money they require, you can own both and be 100% legal.

I've also had people tell me plate carrier with plates, extra magazines, and other stuff attached to it is also illegal as only cops and military are allowed to have them. I just laughed.

Some people
Is this a response to the cheap auto modifications?
Some people are saying since Gaston Glock passed away that the company is moving in new innovations and designs.... possibly making an A.R. 15 Glock too... I talked to a LE distributor the other day and he says Glock is encouraging lowering all prices to get rid of all existing inventories, (US wide)... It could be in response to Glock switch lawsuits as well....
In a few months, you may see Glocks way below cost everywhere... and LE models declassed for civilian sale..

5% off on all cases of Ammo... over $200 free shipping also... no tax

Lots of ignorance on guns out there.

I'd recommend ammoseek.com, a clearinghouse for ammo dealers. Outdoor Limited and Rivertown Munitions are listed there, I've used them to get good deals, usually have free shipping deal thresholds. If you sort for a shipper rating of 8 or higher, you rarely have to factor shipping into the cost, and I always choose brass and new on the cartridge types. You can almost always beat Palmetto Armory prices there. Example, velocity's cheapest 10mm runs around 50 cents a round, a case of 10mm Sellier and Bellot at Rivertown runs you just 38 cents a round, no tax, no shipping.

Here's where it gets weird for me. I try to reason my way through this and in the end find myself supporting Israel.

Lots of ignorance about guns. True. A lot. Off the cuff, those people shouldn't own a gun.
Lots of ignorance about guns. True again. A lot. What ticks me off is these laws and regs coming from the same sect.

Israel has mandatory training for the military at a certain age. I'm tempted to suggest taking those same dumbasses and giving them the same type of education.

I don't disagree that it could be good for them but as someone who has trained military members, What do they have to lose by getting kicked out? You have some leverage when training young military members who at least kind of want to be there. When they're having a tough time or make a mistake, if you know them, you can give them some perspective of what they have to go back to, not meeting their parent's expectations of them, etc. A person who doesn't want to be there is already hard to train. A person who never wanted to be there and doesn't need to be there is damn near impossible. The only thing you have to hold over them is punishment or an other than honorable discharge so it just makes the trainers job more difficult. Give me an all volunteer force any day. There will still be some to weed out but not like it would be if everyone had to go.

I’ve got a neighbor (long story on how that happened).
Her husband passed away and she couldn’t afford the mortgage. So she let some “family” move in on the property.
The nephew is a punk thug. There was a disturbance over there. I had the cops show up at my house at 2:30am. Not knowing who was pounding on my door, i answered with my Glock. The officer said he’d answer his door in the middle of the night with a gun too, but could I set it down while we talked. I said yes sir and placed it within their line of sight.
As it turned out the “ nephew” hit a woman with the butt of a rifle and threatened to shoot her and fired off multiple rounds in the air. They just wanted to see if my security camera caught sight of the woman going door to door looking for someone to call the cops. The neighbors will routinely fire weapons, which in Florida is legal as long as you’re not shooting into anyone one else’s property. Needless to say that guy is now in jail.
I told the officers to bring a paddy wagon and load them all up. They know they’re not to come onto my property and he kinda laughed.

There's on old black and white picture that shows kids in Russia (I think) learning to disassemble and reassemble AKs during class. And these looked like junior high kids. I've searched, but can't find the picture. But I remember seeing it a few years ago.
We got our hunter's education card in school and I graduated in 95. It wasn't required but if you took Ag you took hunter safety.
