Jon Solomon takes a stand that the way to look at the QB competion standing is by points on the score board. (see below)
McCarron 35, Sims 6.
That's the score that mattered Saturday. That's the score if you take away Sims' one-touchdown drive since he gave seven back on an interception that quickly produced Kent State's only points.

I'm not sure we can afford to call the QB search over at this point. Numbers that were not on the scoreboard were "2" and "2", the number of interception thrown against Kent State -- each.

If we don't get one of the two to stop turning over the ball, the score will only indicate our potential for losing a game closely.

Thoughts? Do we keep rotating them or roll with AJ?

I agree with Crimson Tider, we need to pick one and let the offense gel around him. I think it has to be AJ. Phillip is immensely talented, but AJ is more poised at this point. They are both going to make mistakes, but I think AJ gives us our best shot.

One of A.J.'s pics you have to put on the receiver since it (IMO) was a catchable ball. To me, A.J. looked better and much more comfortable out there. The big thing is which QB does the team feel more comfortable with. It's early on but this morning I say we go with A.J.

^^ Not just your opinion man, the ball hit Williams directly in the hands. Shoulda been caught. AJ needs to be the guy, in MY opinion. Regardless I think we have to go with one of the other, I no we risk losing the other guy (to transfer) but its either that or we stick with the 2 QB system and I guarantee we lose a game or two just based off of that alone. There is no way to keep the momentum going with that. AJ had things rolling when he started and then Sims came in and really couldn't get anything goin, and when AJ came back out his momentum was gone and he struggled for awhile.

I say we use both again next week and after that we should know who our QB is.

I thought AJ looked better yesterday, but what was everybody thinking? AJ has been in a college game before, so he should've looked like he did. I want to see Sims next week to see if there's any improvement.

Based on yesterday's game you could say Trent needs to be the backup and our offensive line should be sat.

I am absolutely opposed to playing "audition" again next week, against a ranked Penn State team, in Happy Valley. I'd say play AJ and keep him in unless the offense can't move the ball and we are getting beat. If they want to play "audition" again for North Texas? Fine by me. But not on the road against a ranked team.

it's a tricky situation. i agree with the above posters that mentioned AJ's interception that went of the hands off the tight end. that was a good pass.

I will say this. i don't think Philip Sims is ready to be THE QB at Alabama. He is very talented no doubt. But he looked uncomfortable in the pocket and confused. Pretty much how i think most qbs would look after coming to Bama and learning the plays for a few months and then attempting to run this machine in front of 100,000 people. Trouble is... that doesn't get better... it gets worse and i don't think his composure will change overnight or just because it's a new opponent. PS looked like he was thinking a lot. AJ looked like he might as well have been playing skee-ball. he was having fun and making throws.

I don't think you can come out of the Kent State game thinking that PS is ready. He's just not. i think he needs a couple of years in the system to get ready to be the starter. that being said... best of luck to him.

AJ starts this week and plays most of the game....if we get ahead a good bit Sims comes in to get some experience. The next week they both play...again to get sims some experience and to make him feel like he got a fair shot. Plus it prepares him a little in case AJ gets hurt at some point in the season. in the end...AJ is our starter until Sims takes it. I dont see that happening this year
