Sorry I was away from the computer this afternoon with the Grandson. I heard the reports on 680 TheFan while I was out. I knew Stokan was talking with them, but I didn't think they were anywhere near a point that anything would be made public. I don't know why Evans made his comments unless he was running up a flag to see which way the wind was blowing.

I can't imagine any varriance from the 50-50 ticket split, which would not go over very well with the Tech fan base. And if you click on the UGA blog in this thread, you will see by looking at the poll and the comments that the UGA fan base is heavilly against it. Of course that would probably change if they learned they were going to get half of the tickets. I just don't see the game happening.

The payout is not good enough to offend half of your season ticket holders and students by taking their ticket(s) and giving them to your/their most bitter rival.

Look at it this way, even at only getting 50% of the tickets, the Dome is so much bigger than GT's little field, the GT people would still get about the same # of tickets. We're talking what, 75,000 seats compared to 45,000 seats? GT doesn't sell out anyway at home, so there really isn't much of deal breaker as far as ticket split goes for GT fans, I wouldn't imagine. Maybe perceived instead of actual.

If they were going to end the series in 2012 at GT then that would work. Otherwise, no. A 3 year deal is for teams that do not play every year.

It is a big deal. You're giving your biggest rival the opportunity to have just as many of their fans there as yours, and it's YOUR home game. If I was a Techie I'd be furious if this was approved with split tixs.

I agree it would be a big deal anywhere else, but Tech can't even sell out those measley 45,000 seats when there's no competition from opposing schools like GA, I'd bet that dawg fans probably buy up as many as half of the tix when they play at GT's stadium anyway. I just hate Tech because I work with so many GT engineers - almost none of them ever go to any games, unless some other GT is giving them away.

I have been to one GT/UGA game at Grant Field and it's definitely a home-field advantage to the Jackets and the game I went to was a sell out.

If they were to jump in and have a neutral site game in 2011, since they play every year, all it would do is change the year in which each is the home team. I've always wanted to see GT and UGA play at least one game in the dome. It would never work every year though....as that would definitely be a home game every year for GT and a road game for UGA.....
