So it's becoming more like musical chairs, and the likelihood of us picking up anyone that's really going to move the needle for us is dwindling?
I think you should change your mindset on this. We have increased roster spots from 85 to 103.

You want to fill rest of the roster spots by players who's going to be able to contribute on ST, in practice and be ready to step in if things get bad. The addition of the rb helps us because he fills Washington's spot on ST and He has an opportunity to crave out a role on the team somewhere, so it's a good addition.

We aren't only one who's doing this. Teams in SEC and other league are doing the same things. Find that little diamond in a rock in players, and take a chance on them. If there is anyone that's in portal as of now, and has decent tape, take a chance on them. It's low risk, high reward opportunity.

3, 2, 1 or no stars. Already spent most of our $ on 4 and 5 stars. Need cheaper bench players to fill our roster. Wrote about this a month or two ago. Find players who you think are smart and coachable, and hope for the best. You Will find some willing players that will be of some help. Maybe even a starter.

Any Mike LB transfers?

Is there a chance J Miller begins at MLB, rather than Wolf?
Got Caleb Johnson from Virginia tech, and I believe Xavier Griffin is gonna start out being an ILB. Plus, we've got a ton of talent there already. They just need more playing time to get the in game experience needed for the position. Once a lot of these guys start getting enough reps, they'll be good.

He definitely needs to put on some more muscle mass, but have you seen him? The kid is a freak of nature. Once he adds on that weight, he's going to look like a monster.

Oh yeah, I'm stoked he signed with us. I follow Gainesville each year. Funny enough they are the Red Elephants. Saw him at the LSU game as he sat right in front of us. Adds a few pounds and he's gonna be ready. Legitimate speed.

I think I've already posted film of him at some point, but his closing speed on the ball carrier is elite. There's a clip of him where the play goes to the opposite side of the field. Griffin takes a great angle and hawks the RB down. That was one of the most impressive things I've seen a linebacker do.

Like Saban used to say, can’t really evaluate a signing class until later. These days maybe sooner, like within a season or two. But definitely can’t say squat at this juncture.

On a related topic, to anyone who understands revenue, do bowl payouts even reach the players anymore? I remember back in the day that the bowls offered an assortment of gift packages to the players for accepting the invitation to come play. And you had different levels of gift packages, the Rose Bowl often offering the ā€œgranddaddyā€ of bowl goodies to players and the largest payout to the participating schools. But now that players are being paid directly all season long, do bowls still offer gifts to players and bowl payouts to schools?? And if so do schools put all of the bowl payout towards their own budgets? Or to replenish their NIL collectives?? Just wondering how bowl money is being utilized today.
