Although I agree, IU is an extremely well coached team…….there’s something you are missing.

Buy In. Those IU players were/are bought in.

To me, I don’t think it matters who is coaching, if the players aren’t buying it, it ain’t working.

I never felt that this bama team was completely bought in this season. That’s on coaching, but equally the players.

I guess time will tell.
We heard a lot about relationships in the off season. Seemed like the players had that with each other and the coach. In the end the results are on the coaching staff. That is what they are paid to do.

Losing does not bother me as much, but how we lose does.
Always had people puzzled when I took the position, how we win also matters. You can win but play be mediocre which is what we saw mostly this year. All subjective I know. Not much is pointing to a trajectory of elite coaching which leads to elite teams after two years.

… I’m of the opinion that it would probably be best to let the dust settle from these massive changes before plotting a new course.

… so patience will be key.

… there comes a point where it would be irresponsible (and detrimental to other UA programs) to go beyond set budgets in an effort to keep up with [other schools] …

… the plan they have is a solid one. It may be more tortoise than hare, but we've all heard how that goes... and which one survives longer. But right or wrong, I'd say stay the course …
I could have quoted the entire post because it was masterful IMO. But I felt these select morsels deserved another taste by all fans. As unfamiliar as all this feels for us, we shouldn’t act hastily and panic. If anything, Indiana’s sudden rise should encourage us to ā€œhold the lineā€ until the new normal is established under a new regime. Let the hungry, desperate programs expend all their money now to exploit this transition period, so that we can hit the ground running when the new ā€œturfā€ has ā€œtaken root.ā€

The problem is they are billionaires with consistent revenue streams. I don't see it stopping until an organizing body steps in and stops it. No different than lobbyist in DC, that'll happen with this as well, so who knows if it will be reigned in.

IMO, the sport needed a shake up due to the monopoly that the southeastern region had on championships, save OhSt. Now, after more parity being implemented, the sport cannot survive without guardrails that protect the rural universities without billionaire donors. Regulation and revenue equity is coming. It has to for the sake of every stakeholder.

For those that don't follow it closely... Jayvin James came available late as the transfer portal was closing, and had interest right away from UA. Bama was still looking for someone with significant LT experience and he's got it. Better yet, he's got it in the SEC. He's also played RT while at Akron (prior to his season at MSU). He is a good pickup considering the market and what was/is available. What he isn't is an All-SEC level tackle like Proctor was, at least not now. But this was a need to wrap up the revamped OL and give them some better options on the best 5.

If anything all this has done has shown a true lesson in life that there will always be the have's and have not's. Can put guardrails on anything in life, but true winners are going to find a way to win, and losers will always find a way to lose. That's nature and that's human nature. Not many like true honesty, but that's a reality.

Paraphrasing how it was described to me.

"His snap to sack ration looks good UNTIL you see the sacks. Oh shit moments."

Penalty issue year one. Okay in year two.
Assignment issues in year two. ...

Usually players improve with more time/reps... not always, but usually. Hopefully, in what will be his 3rd (fiull) season, things will start to click a little more for him.
