Looking like we're in the mix here could be letting Talty go as well

Also, this is the first time this guy has ever kicked the football. He was a kid from Ireland that just joined Marshall this year so give him an off-season and he'll probably be better than these stats show.

Excellent kicker!

I don't believe Bama is willing to spend the big dollars to sign these tip top guys. You have to consider how paying huge dollars will register with your roster. I know you can't keep everyone happy. Trying to thread the needle.
I almost think it's becoming a better benefit to lose a kid during the recruitment year, let another team pay to develop them and then grab them in the transfer portal for 1 or 2 years start later... College football has come to a very ugly state, IMO.

Do they tell a player to move on that isn't a high dollar value player that is a second string guy, or are they only telling guys to leave that aren't playing to the level of their pay?
Verbally told to leave, I doubt that is common since roster scholarship is now 105; however, told via NiL/Rev-share.... absolutely. IE, you are not getting any rev-share, but we'd love to have you on the team.

And Texas Tech is also bringing in a solid passing QB from the portal if I remember correctly.
Cincy guy...probably has more experience than any other QB in the portal. I know his snaps are "up there."

It was the one thing TTU didn't have last season and as I've mentioned it is one thing that didn't make a lick of sense to me.

I see the reasoning. Here's where I see a problem. They'd be cutting off a lot in terms of numbers. Programs, and cultures, can be so different from each other.

Here's what I mean ...

Let's say Billy went to A&M as a result of being caught up in their NIL spending spree a couple of years ago. He's been in that culture for a few years and hits the portal. Is he a fit for your locker room? You're looking at a talent pool who haven't been a part of the culture you've built inside the football building.

Waxing Biblical ... "train up a child in the way it should go" or something like that?

True frosh or redshirt frosh. How much greater is the benefit of having them in your program in their "formative" years?

OR, you were getting X amount last season. That number will be the same this season...like a job eval where you don't get a raise and you know one isn't coming.

oh i get it... I'm just being sarcastic in my comment. The state of recruiting and NiL is really killing college football for me... maybe this new generation will enjoy it, but I hate it.

Never got a chance to pitch them in person can’t expect to land a recruit who never visits
JMO but the agent of both were told before any visit how much to expect from Bama. If that amount is close to the magic number expected, then a visit is setup. Otherwise no since going to the trouble of a visit. I don't consider the #1 player in the portal for any position as a possible player that Bama will sign due to the amount of money they will demand. Might be one exception per cycle but never more than 2.
