| FTBL 2025 SEC football schedules released... Updated with Bama's schedule in replies

... 10 days before classes begin, or 24 days before the first game.
That “rule” is for D2. Many FBS schools start classes after Labor Day but will have a game before that. Some schools on quarters don’t start classes until mid-September. The 25 practice rule remains.

They need to go back to divisions and to 9 conference games.

EAST
Auburn

Georgia

Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee

WEST
Alabama
Arkansas
LSU
Miss St
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Texas

Every team plays every other team from their division, plus 3 teams from the other division (2 permanent cross-divisional rivals and 1 rotating). It would make things SO much simpler, in my opinion. Yeah, yeah...too much cannibalism within the conference and it might jeopardize the SEC's chances for multiple playoff spots. And 1 team could rule their division for years. Whatever...get better, win more games.

IMO, eventually, the 9 game conference schedule might be approved, but first there are going to have to be guarantees on postseason slots for SEC teams. The AD's aren't gonna agree to an even stronger schedule that just ends up penalizing them in the end. Those other couple of conferences can stomp their feet and yell about the fact they play an extra conference game and the SEC doesn't, but the bottom half of their conferences are absolute trash compared to the bottom half of the SEC.

I like playing teams in the SEC that haven’t been on the schedule in a while. What I don’t like is having to wait for two years before a rotation.

I would like 5 permanent.
4 rotating.

Need to keep some more historical schools on schedule. Ms. Msu. Lsu. Tn. Au
Off the top of my head, that means we'd see home and home series with schools like Florida once every eight years.

Some things like this have been suggested, then put in a file. It's numerical ...

But whats more important. Our historical opponents or those. I guess thats what it boils down to

9 sec games. Rotate the 4 others. Be on schedule every couple of years. Thats ok. ??

I know what ever anybody comes up with has faults.

10 game sec schedule be ok to

I'm sorry, but what? Rotate what four others? OOC?

Your layout for permanents means a kid who starts school this year, gets his masters and PHD in eight years, wouldn't see some SEC teams play.

Would NEVER pass...not even a twinkle in someone's eye on that one.

There's no reason to move to nine.

Wait. U worried about not getting to play every team in sec ( who cares). But dont want to add another sec game. Lol

No. You can't change the subject mid-stream here. No starting, then stopping...especially when you are pissing in the wind. :devilish:

The response was in reference to your suggestion of moving to five permanent, four rotating, in a nine game system.

I said there isn't a reason to move to nine games. It's never been about not wanting the game, it's a matter of why when it's not needed.

But ur argument was. If we did a 5-3 schedule ( and it was just my thought) to keep our most rivalries... teams wouldn't cycle through the conference teams enough.
but u dont like adding another conference game. Which would help cycle through the other conference games.

Guess u loss me on that thinking. You dont but u do thinking.

And it would be needed if that cycling thing was really important ( which its not). Haven't done it in years. So why is it so important now?????????

Anyway. 5-4 would be good. Unless u love games vs directional schools. I don't!!!!

Those Bye weeks.... Our bye weeks align with two of those fortunately but the other two may be the ones that create problems. At least the Viles game is a home game.

It's absolute bullshit. I took a swipe at Kirby for his comment on the stage last Saturday night, directed at Sankey, but hell, maybe that's the route to go if you want something fixed at this point. Sankey bent over for Texas and made a deal with them on their schedule last year, but best I can recall, it's been Alabama and UGA carrying the water for the conference for quite some time now. Makes zero sense. And I'm still pissed about Bama not getting MSU as a permanent opponent instead of LSU.

Texas probably came in at the best time for them. Sark had a few years to get his system in place and improved recruiting. Bama and Georgia had a drop off. Bama was certainly not at the elite level we have been. SEC had good teams but not elite. Sankey certianly did Texas a favor with the schedule for sure. I assume some back door influence was exerted.

Supposedly a deal was made. Texas had to play at Texas A&M in year 1, and got a friendly SEC slate on the rest in return.
