maybe they weren't allowed to. Remember once you enter transfer portal, you're at risk losing scholarship. I feel like some of the takes are too harsh without knowing the full situation behind the doors.

That's why I said it's not black and white as some of the posters implied on here. I know a kid who transferred from a certain school because he was told he wouldn't have scholarship available for him in spring. Coach gave him option to stay on with the team for the bowl or he can leave team and seek other school. It was cordial and coaches was willing to help him to find a home.

Understood. Even if you're told to go looking in regard to next Fall's season, I don't know why you wouldn't finish out your current season. I highly doubt these few days he'll be getting the jump on working with his new receivers or team to build any comradery.

Takes your scholarship? The semester is over! You think they stop feeding the kid and give him a bill? It's not harsh when you're getting paid to play. No different than you and me on a daily basis and what we live with.

You use this argument every single time it gets brought up and you get the same responses. yes, the coach is a quitter too. no special treatment there and I don't think anyone argues the coach being called a quitter.

Tennessee qb walking away before bowl. There maybe he was told they are playing a different qb to get ready for next yesr( what i have heard). Would piss me off but stay with team?

I'm gonna need a real example, because I'm uncertain how a scholarship athlete doesn't have the option to play out his season. I also don't see how a new team could keep a guy from playing out the season with his "former" team. Apologies, but my brain isn't able to compute.
I want to start with the disclaimer that, I hate the current transfer system... something I've said many, many times... there's a lot broken within the world of CFB these days, and that part is right there in the middle of it.
But...
It looks like the players are catching most all the hell over this transfer stuff instead of the broken rules system that allows (and pretty much encourages) it. The players are just doing what humans do... taking advantage of the system put in place. I don't like it, but the only fix is to rewrite the rules and take that option away.

Right here guys. Old man nailed it. We are going to see some guys leave because of the 85 cap.
Say all you want my Bama people, after Fran Ran, my judgement on coaches quitting is very strong. Players are in a system that they have not much control over, but the rules set forth. It's still quitting on a team if you do NOT finish the season with whom you started with for so called better things. IMHO. They do have options on their timing. Portal opens and closes and opens back up. NCAA is setting their bank accounts up and the crumbs left behind are being gathered up with it.
