| RECRUIT šŸˆ 2024 Transfer Portal Thread - DB DaShawn Jones has Committed to Alabama

He quit the coaches and his teammates! I wouldn't want him on the team. It's because the only Bowl games now that counted is the Playoff! Next year we will see them below the 12th team not playing.
I"m sorry, if I'm a player in college, and My best course of action is to transfer now instead of waiting til April... I"ll do it if I know I will get better opportunity to play somewhere. It's the right decision for me. SO I wouldnt' say I quit on my team... It' just the rules and the way transfer portal is set up, It left me no choice.

Now, If you're going to talk about quitting on team.. Look to USC qb...... FSU QBs, and others.

It's quitting on your team however you want to slice it. You gave your commitment to your team, the program, and your school. They honored their commitment to you by paying your tuition, room and board, feeding you non-stop, medical care, stipends, apparel, giving you the best coaching to progress your career, nutrition and body care, educational support and benefits, not to mention NIL opportunities, and MANY more perks. Not finishing a season, just bullshit. You can transfer and still play in almost every situation I have heard coaches speak to. Even Saban allows his guys to stay and play.

Right. A quitter is simply...a quitter
Football...life...marriage...child raising...whatever

Yeah they all quit on there team, true. However the rodemaker kid from FSU, left because FSU is looking for a starting qb in the portal. They didnā€™t tell him heā€™s not there guy. Got this from the starting center and left tackle. Lot of FSU players kinda pissed they treated him that way too.

Right. I dont have problem with guys leaving...after the season in which they all depended on each other....
But osu or Oklahoma qb leaving....but...its what i have always said...they are just bowls...
Meaningless games...players even think so

Dont know the thinking on fsu guy....either...
Sure leave but....sunday after fsu bowl game...

But players leaving before cfps...wow...
I cant figure the thinking there

But...lsu coach left ND with games left on schedule...and remote ..very remote...of CFP appearance...

Just says...Alan...thats me...you are just an old person..with old thinking.... voila!!!!!

What are you saying? I see guys that quit. Buchner sticking with the team shows Saban allows it and isn't a quitter.

You are assuming the coach didn't tell him to get out also.... I mean, if I'm the coach, why in the hell would I play a kid that won't be on the team next year? If anything, I'm giving that playing time to someone that will benefit me next year.

What's four or five days mean? The schools he has available to him or still going to pursue him if he enters the Portal and whether or not he plays. He waited four years for this opportunity, and now he runs when he has his chance?

May very well have...that crap on coaches if so
But if he has stuck it out all year...???????? He might know he isn't playing...but still a teammate...right?

For one, a bonus could be on the line. Two, if a kid has earned his right to play, he should be playing. You think the third string guy is going to see the field at all in Tallahassee next year? No way, but you still have to play the dang bowl game. it means millions for your program, sets a tone with your team, and makes a difference while recruiting. Results matter, and that's why you let them play.

Let's be careful not to conflate "quitting on the team" with "quitting on providing an entertaining bowl product for sports writers and spectators." With so much money openly available and so few regulations, players are finally able to behave like coaches who "quit on their players."
